Two physicians at the Texas Heart Institute have developed a replacement device that is, thus far, successfully replacing heart functionality. Devices to assist a heart have been around for some time but a full-on replacement has yet to be established. The modified dual ventricular assist devices actually continuously circulate blood through the body - instead of the rhythmic pulse we're all used to. It's a fascinating story to say the least.
