Recently I noticed that the BBC version of The Hitch-Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy was available for Netflix streaming, so I tried it out. I'd always heard that the BBC show was a fairly faithful adaptation of the radio show which was a faithful adaptation of the book. Thus far, that is proving to be true (for better or worse).

The acting is a bit intolerable at times and some of the makeup is laughably enjoyable but the computer animation interstitials are incredible. Turns out that a man named Rod Lord (and his company) are responsible for their look. It's difficult for images to capture the entire aesthetic but if you watch a bit of video you get the idea. It's fairly rudimentary by today's standards, almost 8-bit style, but filled with its own charm.
