Hold Fast: Sarah Moody
posted October 6, 2015 #
Sarah Moody runs Hardly Art, a Seattle-based record label with an arsenal of raw talent. Launched in 2007, the label is supported by industry icon Sub Pop, who Moody got started with as an intern and super-fan in 2004. After college, she shipped west to join the team full time and immersed herself in the local music scene. Inspired by emerging, small, and unknown acts, Hardly Art was formed to get behind bands like The Dutchess & The Duke that Moody was most excited about and expose them to a larger audience. The label holds fast to that dogma today. "[The artists are] doing what they should be - they're busy creating... Whereas our job is to take what they're doing, and make sure people hear it." Spoken like a true fan.
