Interesting article from Time Out NY (via Soup Soup) exploring the question - Is Social Media bad for NYC? While it's entirely possible you don't live in New York the concepts tackled likely still apply to you - namely, are we too busy documenting life that we're failing to experience it? Location check-ins, food porn photography, Facebook obsessions and concert recordings create these massive distractions from the things you're actually supposed to be living. Can we get over sharing ourselves long enough to go back to enjoying what's right in front of us? Is this just a phase because the tactics are new? Are we doomed to be a self-obsessed culture incapable of enjoying activities without somehow being able to boast how they count as some sort of digital accomplishment?

Lots of questions to be answered but no way to really answer them except to wait it out and see what flourishes.
