I can't say that I ever thought I'd be drawn to paintings of the Old West but looking at the work of
Mark Maggiori, it's hard not be pulled in. In particular, the clouds are completely entrancing. Pieces like
And The Mountains Echoed or
Heart of a Loner set an instantaneous mood of the lonesome existence out in the barren plains. Also, the depiction of
clouds in many of these pieces is absolutely spellbinding. I am transfixed.
