ms stole from more than xerox

So, if you haven't heard, the company Eolas successfully sued Microsoft for their infringement on a patent related to plug-in technology. Basically, MS (and probably Apple soon) may have to pay a huge sum of money to Eolas to back-pay on their usage of "plug-ins" and then begin to license the technology from the company for future releases. But instead, MS has decided to try and alter their browser and the way it handles external applications like Flash, Quicktime, etc. so that if websites object and embed code isn't properly updated, you'll get one of these.

Aside from it being really asinine for MS to request that web developers go back and recode their sites so they are compatible (sounds familiar don't it?), what happens if you don't upgrade your browser? And if lack of updating means lack of ever seeing this thing, then why would you?

Here is some more information for developers. Thanks to Daniel and Dolan for the linkage.
