OnStar lingo

In an attempt to be more thought provoking, I offer you this article about a Michigan man who's dialect prevented him from properly using an OnStar voice-activated mobile service. Aside from the bit of humor about this 'yooper' penisula native, it brings to mind the question of whether or not technology is subconciously creating a homogenous dialect throughout the nation? In order to properly communicated with the voice recognition software, everyone would have to learn to speak relatively in the same manner - no more intense accents.
