Thank you
Lee. Thank you for posting
this. It has brightened my day in so many ways. Who knew you could have so much fun with Spongebob?

Nice paintings (and photography) over at
fourblacktacks. The style of some of the paintings reminds me
Nick Butcher and/or
Ryan Hale.. lots of good texturing combined with some intricate, occasionally sloppy-style, drawings.

The new trailer for
Garden State has what a good trailer should have - a bit of plot, some witty dialogue, nice backing music, some insight into what the film is trying to do.. but not enough to give it all away. This is one of those films where I really want to try and stay as ignorant as possible so as not to spoil it.. kinda difficult with such good trailers.

Went to see
Supersize Me last night and really have nothing but great things to say about it. Morgan Spurlock, director / fast food connoisseur, is funny, intelligent, and obviously a little bit daring. The movie exposes alot of factoids about the dangers of fast food and on a broader scale - how America has became the fattest nation in the world.

It's that time of year again.. you know..

Daniel for the photos.. and for the haircut.

Chad likes
Monsters in Disguise and I have to agree. I'd like to see enlarged views of the works but from what I can tell, it all looks great.

Since I enjoy their graphic and shoe design, I suppose I should link to
Macbeth Shoes. I can't hate on designs like the
Lee but I'm definetly thrown by how much the company has aligned itself with a bunch of crappy "emo" bands.

Despite the "controversy" with Disney, it appears that Michael Moores new film
Fahrenheit 9/11 will be released to theatres on June 25th. Even if you hate the guy (or just think he's a bit maniacal) the film will likely make some interesting points worth considering. The "nation of fear" aspect from Bowling For Columbine is pretty dead on despite some indiscrepancies with the editing.

I uploaded a
Mix for you all to download. Please make sure you save the files to your own hard-disk and don't just stream them off my server.. otherwise, yewknee.com will be gone quite quickly from exceeding bandwidth.
All of the files are encoded at 96kbps - which certainly isn't the highest quality for audiophiles but it should serve the purpose of getting a sample of a few bands quite well.
Enjoy the sounds and let me know of any suggestions you'd like to see added.

You may be tired of the style, but I'm diggin the works from
Mainframe. The collabs are especially nice as well.

I've seen many a "flash experiment" site in my time, but rarely do you see many that are properly focused and well done.
Typorganism is one of the few, rare, good ones. Worth spending a few minutes with.. even if you just traverse the Description.

I was fortunate enough to catch
The Day After Tomorrow over the extended weekend - and I must say..
incredible. I mean, super hyper-global warming? Random Russian freighters? Hell hounds.. err.. Timberwolves.. err.. whatever those incredibly poorly rendered mammals were supposed to be.
Jake Gyllenhaal as a 17-yr-old? Dennis Quaid as a dedicated paleoclimatologist ? No complaints.

Hope everyone has a great
Memorial Day and hopefully that means an extended weekend for ya. I'll be busy helping friends move from apartments to houses, from houses to other houses, painting bedrooms in preparation for said move, emptying bedrooms of various junk, and hopefully working some screenprinting in for
some people. Oh, and I'm off to the
The Secret Machines tonight at the
Exit/In - why don't you come join me (that is, if you live within the middle TN area.. otherwise that'd be pretty ridiculous).
In summation, have a good one.

New collection of drawings up over at
Ninjacruise, entitled 5hiver. The 40 drawings display a wider range of styles of techniques than I'm used to and that's a good thing for sure.. old meets new.

Even if you aren't really a fan, you kind of have to respect the sheer dense amount of output that
John Frusciante has seen as of lately. Aside from the studio version of
Shadows Collide With People, he's made acoustic versions of all the songs available.. as well as Demos for the songs.. an entire Internet exclusive album.. the
Brown Bunny soundtrack.. and now he's just annoucned that he plans to have SIX more records out by the end of the year. His collaborations with Josh Klinghoffer have proved to be interesting, so it might be worth checking out. Now I just need to finish that review of
Shadows.. for
Silent Uproar.

At one point,
Kurt proclaimed that
this was the best thing on the web. While I have a hard time disagreeing, it seems that designer
Jakub Dvorsky has a knack for creating that style. The newest in his collection is an interactive game for the
Polyphonic Spree entitled
Quest for the Rest, in which you must guide 3 members of the Spree back to the rest of the group. The puzzles, the art direction, and the animation are all superbly done.. so good to see a designer consistently putting out entertaining and great work, no matter the client. Props to Hollywood Records for making it happen.

Their music may not do much for you, but
Death From Above have had some great graphic design done for them. How can you hate on the dual elephant trunk heads? You can't.
Oh yea, they are signed to
Vice but linked improperly from the site. Go figure.
