Awesome works from
Toward The Sky... the Flaunt print piece is worth the visit in itself. Love the cartography / topography vibe.

The new
Buck LA is a bit of a disappointment from the last version.. however, the work is great, very cool demo reel, a nice bit of humor, intense shirts (especially that last one), and some great sound design.

Great
review of two books at once - one extolling the Satanic Metal Underground scene in Norway, the other How To Win The War On Terror. So you just have to ask yourself, what do Norweigan dirtheads and Richard Perle have in common? Find out. Thanks
Dolan - excellent read.

The
Instant Life Show may be dedicated to Sea Monkeys in theory but any show involving
Ninjacruise and
Kozy N Dan is bound to yield more interesting results than brine shrimp in a stale bowl.

The new
Nonconceptual is one of the hottest layouts I've seen in awhile. Mostly because there is nothing to it but the work. The plain all text navigation and information helps to showcase the works, as it should be.

Here is another simple, yet addictive, game. Not quite as entertaining as the penguin baseball but still a nice distraction. I've got 36 seconds as my record.. definetly beatable.

Seriously great works over at
apt13. Love the no nonsense approach to displaying the portfolio.. very clean, without being clean. Check the "Downpour" cover.. `nuff said.

There is no way that any photo, EVER, could do justice to the emotion and insanity of the last 10 minutes.
KNI SF sent me a Spiderman-Gram... which is a guy dressed up as Spider-Man singing birthday songs, bestowing balloons, passing out certificates, and playing borrowed Batman music in the background. Oh, and I got a gigantic inflatible microphone as well.
These pics attempt to capture the moment (more on the way), but again.. no pic
ever could do the event justice. Thanks guys.

Sweet little early birthday present for myself - the new Modest Mouse single "Float On" can be snagged at the
Said The Gramophone site. Thanks.

I think that the
Tune Recycler is a decent enough idea - take your winning iTunes Pepsi bottle caps and submit them to these guys if you have no interest in downloading, installing, or messing with iTunes. They take the number and download an indie artists song, as to benefit them more-so than a major label artist. The point they make is that major label artists won't see a dime of the 99 cents because they are still recouping their costs, but isn't that all the
more reason to go ahead and purchase their song? Try and help an artist you like recoup their cost? Again, not a half bad idea.. and I certainly can't argue with supporting an indie.

The Buddyhead
Best / Worst 2003 list is available.. and fairly entertaining. Alot of slag to nu-metal, mall-punk, etc.. but what bothers me is, why do they even care? The majority of bands on their worst list aren't even worth reading about because there's no reason to have any interest in them in the first place (i.e. Trapt? Who is even mildly paying attention to them? Or the Offspring). But, as always, Buddyhead makes for a good read.

The photography of
Loretta Lux is kinda creepin me out.. and I like it. The backgrounds all seem very flat and painted, and everything has a weird saturation to it. Bizarre and engaging.

If your state offers
online drivers license renewal, I seriously suggest you take advantage of it. One and a half hours of waiting, a $20 renewal fee, and a $11 parking ticket made up my morning. Thank you Tennessee Department of Safety.

Hot designs at
Wonk - done by Jorge Restrepo, same guy I linked the other day for having hot stuff at
Left Hand Side. I'd like to see some desktops of his design work.. my
South one needs to be retired.

Mailbag: Check out
Reverse Speech. If it was just an archive of famous speeches or events reversed where you could discover new sound bites that'd be one thing - but the site is actually suggesting that in reverse, you reveal thoughts and intentions that you never actually said. It's a real stretch but there are some interesting takes. Keep in mind that once you've read what you're supposed to hear, your mind is going to fill in the gaps.
