Alright! Looks like
The Eels have added Nashville to their Tour of Duty.. strange, since they were just here.. but I'm not going to complain. Some booking agent in Nashville is doing their job right.. way to go.

David Bean recommends "Meat", "Sugarpalace", and "Shrimp 'N Bees." It'll make more sense once you look
here. Bizarre pinhole camera diorama style photography.

The forthcoming Sub-Pop
David Cross DVD entitled
Let America Laugh is set for a November 4th release according to
this article. I can only hope that the majority of it consists of footage from his Nashville performance in which he openly mocks the bar owner (as seen on the teaser clip from
Shut Up, You F**king Baby). But anything will do..

MAILBAG: When a band site is well designed it does nothing but engage the user to spend more time finding out what the "deal" is with the artist (what they sound like, where they are from, etc.). The site for
South is a perfect example of this. The multiple transitions, the art direction, and overall feel of the site make me want to spend some time on the site and check out what all is here. And on top of really enjoying the site, I'm intrigued by the music.. and want to hear more.

Okay, so on a semi-work related note, I need people to suggest their preferred FTP client. Currently I'm using
SmartFTP and aside from it's 6am - 9pm nag screen, it's also started crashing alot and losing my FTP login information. It goes without saying that this is not cool (or anywhere near acceptable behavior). So, what do you prefer? Please don't suggest Mac clients, CuteFTP, or WS_FTP.. not interested. I've heard
Flash FXP is cool...

Okay, the video
The Darkness "I Believe In A Thing Called Love" is out of control. It's like Spaceballs meets Queens meets IMARobot meets every campy over the top ridiculous 80's videos.. but yet
still entertaining and hilarious, not terrible.

More titles to procure this week. Among the many I would recommend the
Desert Sessions,
Outkast (
The Love Below is great but I'm not going to say anything bad about
Speakerboxxx either),
Matmos put out
The Civil War (
see?), and lots of
other stuff that you might be interested in.. I dunno....

Check

I believe I read about
Hixsept in Anthem magazine awhile ago, but hadn't seen their
site until today. Aside from the full-screen "experience" I think the men and women's collection portfolio's are fantastically done. While browsing the Men's collection you pretty much completely forget that you're looking at a catalogue at all. Be sure to check the exhibitions portion of the site as well, lots of good arts to view.

Dolan sent me a link to
this video. The first 15 seconds looked interesting but I have too much to do to watch the whole thing. So, watch it for me and tell me how it is.

Why is it so much easier to get lots of work done after lunch than it is before? It's amazing how much more motivated I am once I have had that little break and some food (note: this does not work if I consume breakfast).

Apparently
this is what happens when you legalize pot for medical usage. People complain to their dealer and start making returns.

As insipid and lame as our reality TV gets here in the US - at least we haven't gotten to
this point quite yet. Though I suppose it's just a matter of time before we strip some random guy naked, lock him in an apartment, and force him to survive by entering thousands upon thousands of contests.

Oh yea, add the
Dismemberment Plan remix record to my list of desired goods. Even though it's remixes of songs I know and I typically hate remixes.. it might be a decent listen.

Okay.. it's a well known fact that
squidfingers has the best patterns available on the web, always comes with the great links (web, art, music, etc.), creates alot of fun sites, and has alot of super insightful DHTML / PHP code available (for free) from his site. What you
don't know is that he's apparently a yo-yo champ! Check
this out..

So
this is just an out of control joke, isn't it? I guess you really can declare any random day a "national ___ day" and it will eventually catch on.
