I wanted to post some amazing kind of "I quit this whole web thing" type post today and then trick you all by admitting it was an April Fools.. but you'd see right through that.. just like we all see right through
Nick but it's still funny. On a side note, funniest joke to pull today is something simple like "Yes, I'd like a Dr. Pepper to drink.. hahaha! April Fools! I want a Sprite." That'll teach em.

"My least favorite word is "edgy." That's what these advertising people want. "Edgy." And it means...nothing. It means, "we want the form of rebellion stripped of all content." That's what the world has come to. "Edginess." But nobody is rebelling against anything. It's all for sale. "
Quote pulled from
an interview with E regarding the forthcoming Eels album,
Shootenanny!.

Strange that both
Bryan and
Slatch have recently talked about "selling out" on their sites.

The site for
Joe Linner has a nice variety of styles.. lots of stuff to look at. I will point out that I found no way to turn off the sound, aside from disabling my entire systems audio, and that was annoying - but alot of the work was fun to look through.

I'll log it now, and I'll log it tomorrow -
StickerNation is almost here. They always had some entertaining things to browse.. I look forward to it.

I watched a bunch of episodes of
The Awful Truth again this weekend, and now it seems
Michael Moore is working on a
new film which I'm sure will prove to be a bit more controversial than his Oscar speech. I know some people hate him, but I commend the guy for speaking out and hopefully reaching some people in a way that makes them think / question what's going on around them.. instead of just accepting it.

I'm not convinced that
Optical Camouflage is what I thought it was. Apparently this is the process of project an image of the background onto the material and creating a sense of transparency... Not great for leaping out of bushes and being a scary floating translucent dude if you gotta bust out a projector with you too.. sheesh.

Even though last week was kinda weak, I watched the latest episode of
Real Time with Bill Maher. If you have a chance to catch this on a re-run (or maybe even download it), please do. The first guest was
Michael Moore and then it was a mini
Mr. Show reunion of sorts with Janeane Garofalo at the roundtable, Paul F. Thompkins with his piece, and Bob Odenkirk reviving his God portrayal. As always the debates are cut a little too short because of time constraints but overall very interesting to watch. Larry Miller talks way too slow and Michael Graham comes off as a condescending jackass alot of the time - but that's what makes it interesting. Good episode, try and check it out.

Almost forgot to mention that I went to see
Spoon last night as part of the 50th Anniversary of
WRVU.
The Features were the first band I caught of the set and it was good as usual,
Crooked Fingers were good musicians I suppose but the set really dragged on and on.. definetly not a fan. Spoon has to be the most high-energy lowkey band I've ever seen. Lots of gusto goes into playing the songs, but the music is very mid-tempo kind of languid indie pop. Interesting mix. Overall the show was resoundingly... good.. not phenomenal, not disastrous, but good. I look forward to many more upcoming entertaining shows (Cursive/Minus the Bear, Forget Cassettes, My Morning Jacket, maybe Paper Lions, +/-, Tomahawk, etc.).

Someone on the
Autolux msg board suggested that
Minus the Bear runs circles around
Grandaddy... I'm not sure I agree that they
run circles around them, but they are quite enjoyable from what I've heard so far. Grant says they are like a mix of Grandaddy and
The Dismemberment Plan.
Bryan agrees. So with that sort of endorsement.. shouldn't you be going to check them out,
now.

Speaking of launches -
KNI launched a new one for
Robbie Williams. Definetly not a personal fan of the music, but I am proud of the site.

I'm not sure I'd ever see the day that
Daniel relaunched a full site - but he's gone and done it. And it's quite rad. Different color schemes based on the day, fun facts about him, photo gallery, a log(!), and some rather cool featured pieces on the main page. Excellent work, my friend.. excellent work.

Apparently IBM just announced a
new drive that can handle up to 2 petabytes of data. Petabyte is so huge you've never even heard of it as a prefix. Yea, it's that big. It's got a suggested sticker price of about $94,000 - anyone feeling generous?

Lots of crazy works from
Ron English. Beware the embedded Real Audio on the main page, but the site is worth clicking the stop button - cause there are loads of intriguing and fascinating works.
Billboards,
Paintings, and
Silk Screens among other things. Never found an enlargement of
this on the site anywhere.. but that's okay... it's probably too new to be on the site.

this makes me smirk. Other works from

While I'm not particularly a fan of his music, this
Ben Harper site has some cool subtle things going on (some slick mouseovers). And I'll go ahead and say that I really like this Ben Harper
jukebox even though I helped build it (hey, I can still appreciate it, right?).
