Okay, this
LA Weekly Feature sufficently freaked me out - and I don't live anywhere near LA. It tells the tale of a fictional anthrax attack on LA... yea yea.. Anthrax.. what a lame buzzword it has become, but the story was riveting for me. I currently don't own any duct tape or random plastic sheeting, nor am I going to go out and buy any because of this story.. but it was definetly intense.

A whole lot of
protest slogans over at Wooster. My two favorite so far: "Fighting Terrorism With War is Like Fighting Fire With Gasoline", "I Love My Dad Too, But Jeez!"

I'm not sure I'm comfortable with the term "funky" but these
Turntables are definetly a nice idea.. CD's, Cassettes, and LP's.

New versio nof
jpurvis is up. Quite a few new photos added into the mix... always makes me jealous to see how many incredible pics he has to choose from. Great stuff.

Neat navigation and fantastic photo's at
Heimo. Link snatched from the ever bitter
Mike Buzzard (though.. look at
this again... that still cracks me up).

Another goodie from the inbox:
Stop Motion Studios. A photography / stop-motion / Flash MX type experiment that attempts to capture human communication through non-verbal means. I think alot of it would have worked as static images, but jerky stop-motion can be interesting. I've been through
Series 4 and it was pretty interesting.

Mailbag link! Woo.. love it when people share. Check out
The Screening Room - quirky, comical, short film based on the idea that the advertising industry has a way of taking a seemingly good idea and changing it into a ridiculous stereotype. Actually I feel like this is a concept that applies to any client / designer relationship in which the originator that conceived of the idea feels that the best concept of their is the original, unaltered, version. Definetly true at times, but sometimes a little bit of input can be beneficial. See.. ya get a good link and learned a lesson.

I'd say that
this is a pretty "easy" joke but for some reason it still amused me. Especially the final bullet point.

I admit it.. I'm looking forward to
X2. The new trailer definetly shows alot more of the plotline and new characters... good to see some Nightcrawler action, even if it's just for a second.

Somehow I feel like I've seen
Things I've Seen before. Even so, nice photo collection... definetly some incredible gems amongst the already quite enjoyable sets. I haven't made it through all the old stuff yet, but I'm looking forward to it.

New version of

Dope illustration style by
Joshua Gorchov. I always wonder if this kind of style is done with pen, brush, and paint or if it's just an excellent style done in Illustrator and Painter. Either way, it's got a nice combo of creepiness, joy, and the occasionally eyebrow raising thought.

Wha? New
Quark? They had better improve on it ALOT if they want to stay in the competition.. or maybe not since they are considered such a standard format for laying stuff out. Little know fact: I really pretty much loathe Quark and find it to be a cumbersome and outdated program. Check those
system requirements... no holding back.

Was very busy today (and thus, I feel quite productive) at
work but that means a bit of neglect to ole yewknee.com. Sorry bout that. Hopefully I'll find some goods this evening to share, but I've got outside projects to finish as well!

Okay, so all this wartime mumbo jumbo is enough to make ones head spin - so where do you go for some insightful social commentary and (hopefully) debate? You goto
Killing Goliath. An aptly named weblog devoted to all things "Attack On Iraq" without all the overblown media hype in the way. It's a work in progress but if you add this one to your bookmarks, read about these topics, and maybe even participate in the conversation to help enlighten yourself and others.. you may help to become "a voice of sane lunacy in the midst of insane rationalism."

Bionic Systems... if not just for the "Command Center" portion of the intro. Very techy in that Robotech-esque sort of way...

That last link came from
Wooster Collective - a weblog dedicated to all kinds of stickerrs, posters, grafitti, and urban style street art. Definetly alot of worthy reading material and viewing pleasures. Check the Feb. 14th entry of the Baghdad families... pretty potent.

I remember reading about
Dan Witz in
this book and really enjoyed his "hoodie" series. But apparently that was the tip of the iceberg in terms of his work.. definetly check his
site and inspect the Street Art section. The "Hummingbirds" and "WTC Shrines" are particularly interesting, but all of it is done with a level of artistic prowess that is unlike most any other street art (i.e. this is some crazy acrylic paints on sticker paper with airbrushing, etc.)
