Missed this but am thankful to the algorithms for serving it up to me today! @nadasurf are still a favorite of mine, 20 years later. https://t.co/jJvqU2GHay
So, after a long week, we all need some distractions. Here's a few:
Jet Li - Are You Ready? - a scene from The One complete with mouse bomb special effect, "Down with the Sickness" and a special effects wormhole. Once you're done with that, enjoy this masterpiece.
VEEP Final Season Trailer - I love this show so much. Sad to see it go but I imagine it'll be a great sendoff.
Steve Ross, Mountain Lake Falls - Bob Ross has a son and sometimes he'd sub in on the Bob Ross program and give you a fantastic little painting. Steve Ross is exactly what you'd hope for; a heavy metal rocker looking guy that's as sweet as can be. Relaxing as ever.
Ice Pirate - I can't believe this doesn't end more poorly.
If you still need a little something, just go inside Zachary Quinto's $3.2 Million NYC Loft, I honestly found this to be endearing and enjoyable. Bonus, there's a bunch of Architectural Digest videos touring expensive homes and I'm not ashamed to admit that I watched a lot of them.
"There are enough people out there using the mail that we’ll keep making these little pieces of art.” Meet unsung art director Derry Noyes, who's been bringing magic and beauty to the @USPS for nearly 40 years https://t.co/YLeZkjVBLK https://t.co/GyDO3ISzcy
I finally moved my digital music listening from MP3 to streaming about a year ago, and I regret it. I have no idea what I listed to this year, and I find it impossible to keep my focus on a set of albums or songs that I want to explore.
My interview with @sandimastoday is online, talking about the Marvel Bill and Ted comic series, Milk & Cheese, writing for Space Ghost Coast to Coast and Yo Gabba Gabba with @colorkitten, and other stuff. You can hear it here: https://t.co/8O09SLz26r.
Another episode of Rachel Lichtman's Network 77 variety show is now available. Find Your Smile follows the format of the first episode, lots of intentionally awkward sketches steeped in 60's / 70's style with plenty of jokes about the era as well (the Roy Wood makeup kit is a personal favorite). It's filled with guest stars (Ted Leo and Juliana Hatfield appear right up top) and does a great job of having an actual message; namely skewering misogyny. Fortunately, it's not done in such a way that's beating you over the head.
It clocks in at about an hour in runtime; an impressive fact in and of itself for a variety show
of this quality posted for free on the internet!
I just recently ran across this Folding Ideas piece on Annihilation, which serves as a mild teardown of the slew of "explainer" videos out there trying to tackle the film in an overly simplistic way and as an explainer itself, walking you through the metaphor of the film, not the literal plot.
I know I'm late to the party on this as it was released in October of 2018 but, hey, sometimes you just stumble on something that is properly timeless. Take 20 minutes of your day and give this your full attention.
The Bill & Ted podcast I help produce, San Dimas Today, have a fairly epic episode today as they interview Evan Dorkin, a graphic artist that's won the Eisner Award multiple times, worked on Adult Swim, wrote for Yo Gabba Gabba and just happened to be responsible for Bill & Ted's Excellent Comic Book.
At some point in the past I said I was going to try and post less frequently about new podcast episodes from the We Own This Town network but I can't help it. I'm excited for these shows and think the content - albeit audio only - is a worthwhile investment of your time.
