The WHCA dinner will be old news by next week’s SNL but a good cold open sketch would be a Kremlin correspondents association dinner, but every few jokes you cut to Putin and then cut back to the podium and the emcee has been replaced by a new increasingly terrified comedian.

Two bits of
Hott Minute news (the podcast I produce for
We Own This Town).
- 1. Episode 9, 98% on Jamie Tomatoes, is up for your enjoyment and embedded below. Of course I implore you to Subscribe.
- 2. HottMinute.com got an overhaul and I'm happy with how it turned out. There's still plenty of info I want to add in but I think it serves the show well.

Good lord, this repository of
Inspiring Record Label Logos is overwhelmingly great. I'm not sure on what the criteria were for selecting "The Best" of the thousands of record label logos out there but whatever that subjectivity may have been, it worked. I could never pick a favorite, even from this limited selection, but there's something about the handdrawn type of 20th Century Records, Decca, DANA and Chelsea Records that floors me.

This Malcolm Harris piece on
Glitch Capitalism is right up my alley. Within, he compares the "cheating" nature of machine learning to our own capitalist structures. Most impressively, he does it without being overly heady. It's difficult to pinpoint an exact pull quote that encapsulates my enjoyment completely but here's one worth a read:
If an algorithm generates a bad solution - like face-planting as a mode of ambulation - it's usually something we can fix.
That's what tests are for, and engineers learn from their mistakes and oversights. Liberal capitalist democracy, however, isn't great with do-overs. In the political realm, there's a fear that any flexible or dynamic process would be subject to tyrannical abuse, and it's better to just wait until the next election.
There's a lot more context there to make it all the more enjoyable but that should be plenty to convince you to take on the full article. Don't just put it in your Read Later, spend some time with it right now.

Anyone else suffering from extreme FOMO when the weather gets slightly nicer outside and you feel chained to a laptop and can just stare listlessly out the window yearning for some non-Internet time? No? Just Me? Great.
Take a moment this weekend to listen to the
first teaser for the new We Own This Town show,
fan/fiction w/ andrew/zach. If you're into nerdy talk about all kinds of sci-fi / fantasy / whatever crossover, you're gonna love it.

Mum: *laughs and scolds me for speaking in an uncouth manner
