Can someone please connect Hellen Jo with the likes of Image Comics and get her collective of bad ass girls put into narrative comic form. These peeks and hints at a larger narrative are quite compelling and I'd love to see more. Of course they work extremely well on their own with no supporting story but aren't you curious what the Shit Twins back story is? Or what intense situations Bang Gang are getting into? I sure am.

If you haven't seen it, please be sure to see it now. The NY Times special report on Trump's Lies, documented by day and shown how they are incorrect. It's depressingly massive and a worthwhile reminder that the behavior of our current political climate is not normal.

Before anyone jumps down my throat in the comments section, I understand that all politicians manipulate the truth, use their own weird language and back peddle whenever it's convenient. I get that Trump is just a hysterically transparent version of all that but I refuse to accept that his behavior and intentional mistruths are meant to be accepted as baseline behavior.

Great piece from Mat Honan over on Buzzfeed about Living with Amazon Echo Show - the new visualized portion of Alexa. While I can't disagree with any of the complaints or concerns about the device privacy, I cherish reviews like this as they provide legitimate insight on the new things in our lives but also give the opportunity to reflect on the Great Concern parallels that must exist for every generation. Honan is far from alarmist in his review but you can certainly imagine a time when Television brought about the same concerns for households everywhere. Or even electricity, probably.

Dig Me Out, 90's Podcast

Fellow Self aficionado Keith Grosbeck recently clued me in to the Dig Me Out podcast - a 90's rock focused endeavor with plenty of reviews, discussion and interviews from my formidable years. I try not get caught up churning in nostalgia too much but occasionally there's good reason to look back.

Case in point, Episode 72 of the podcast features a lengthy interview with Jordan Zadorozny of Blinker the Star, a late 90's Dreamworks band that released the largely overlooked album August Everywhere. They talk through the history of the band, the drama with the label, the atmosphere of music at the time and even run through a song-by-song breakdown of each track on the album. If you're a fan of the album, it's fascinating.

I'm still digging in to the full archive of episodes they have to offer but if I can stumble upon more that are even half as good as the Blinker episode, it'll be a new favorite.

Linotype: The Film

Watching the trailer for Linotype: The Film I realize how little I know about the technology that revolutionized print. It's clearly a huge step forward from the standard printing press but I didn't realize there was such a Cult of users around it - both from back in its heyday and even still today. The film looks to be a pleasant look back at the tech, the engaging oddballs that built careers with it and those that are trying to save it from extinction now.

Maybe the subject matter doesn't have the same appeal as Helvetica but it certainly looks like a worthwhile watch. Plenty more on the film is available on the official site or you can just dive into renting it.

The still frames of the work of Esteban Diancono should be enough to garner a click through - bizarre bejeweled bodies and feathered outfits are just the tip of the iceberg - but I'm telling you the animation is what locks you in. Seeing these strange humanoids in motion is weird, hilarious and oddly compelling. Particularly when it delves into strange meat manifestations and globby prances.

No sense in trying to answer the question Why Do These Exist, just simply enjoy them.
