Giving a nice deep dive into Polygraph, a collection of "visually-driven essays" that investigates a number of different topics through data. Looking into The Bechdel Test or The Evolution of Music Taste through data is really an eye-opening read and the stories are surprisingly succinct and easy to consume.

Song Exploder, Tobacco

Just about every episode of Song Exploder is an enjoyable listen but I was particularly intrigued by this episode with TOBACCO. Tom Fec runs through his process of writing music and how he creates the intentionally dense sounds found throughout his work. It's really fascinating to hear artists talk about recording equipment as instruments. Recording straight to tape to create happenstance crackles and pops maybe isn't an entirely foreign concept but it's still great to hear an artist talk through the why of doing such a thing.

This song is a personal favorite from the album. To me, it's a sweet, calming, love song about music. I don't know what Andrew's intent was when he wrote it but that's all I can hear...

Really enjoying this body of work from Kali Ciesemier. There's plenty of other worlds, ancient beasts, Bat Babes and delightful treats.

It's not surprising that she is a color stylist at Cartoon Network as the color palettes are perfect. There's plenty more to see on Tumblr and Instagram but start with the InPrnt list, it's great.

Deth P Sun / Hocus Pocus

I am a diehard Deth P Sun fan. There's something about his adventuring cat protaganist haunted by blissed out ghosts amidst an overrun world of crystals and flora and fauna that just gets me. That being said, this Hocus Pocus show at Giant Robot is among my favorite works of his; particularly the top three shown. Absolutely gorgeous.
