Do you watch Jon Oliver? His joke
last week on the Brexit about Britain celebrating their own "Independence Day" was too funny. Trust me, it was good. You should watch it. I chuckled aloud for real.
If videos are not your thing for whatever reason, please enjoy

I've been enjoying the output of Nashville psych-rock band
Penicillin Baby for awhile but their latest release,
Cryptic Fantasties is some next-level goodness. Not only is the artwork from yewknee fave
St Francis Elevator Ride but the songs are just extra realized and perfectly executed.
Give a listen to the final track, "Working Man", and just
try not to put it on repeat.

Have I mentioned
Typeset in the Future before? A blog dedicated to investigating the typography of popular sci-fi films? If not, let's make up for that now. I suggest a deep deep dive into
Bladerunner or
Alien study - as they have such a fine attention to typographic detail it's hard not to be impressed.

NYC artist
James Connolly uses old LP covers as his canvas. He anonymizes faces and adds random ephemera (see Top of the Pops adorned with a laser vomiting shrimp) to great effect. For me, it works best when there's a somewhat sinister vibe to it; a
melting couple or a
choking smoke. But I'm not going to hate on a
spaghetti couple either.

The work of
Fornax Void rides a very thin line between cheesy nostalgia and artful sendup. His creations are deeply entrenched in 80's / 90's style but they are entirely original. Meaning, they aren't just cheap reproductions of old box art or silly neon type. He is painstakingly sending these images through analog processes that would have been present when they were originally created. It makes for some
meticulously accurate output; often impossible to discern between something that came from the era or not.
The Swiss artist is also a
musician that creates a "musical interpretation of computer nostalgia." It's a nice soundtrack for browsing through the work. Dive in
