Fascinated by these pieces from
Pawel Nolbert. The inky creations stem from a process of taking actual paint splatters twisted in real life 3D (a thick swab on clear paper) and then digital manipulation of those forms into the creations you see. His
portfolio is unbelievable, literally. The paint twists and turns in space in impossible ways but feels reals because of the intense streaking and combining of colors. Just
dive into this and you'll get it. Incredible stuff.

I've always enjoyed browsing repositories of cosplay costumes (see
here,
here and
here) but I'd never managed to look up cosplay undertakings from far days gone by. Surely there were enthusiastic nerds in the 70's and early 80's, right? Yes, of course. Here is
one retro cosplay repository that I thoroughly enjoyed and I plan on digging up more. Seems like I have a new idle pastime.

Though I have posted about it many times before, the Karborn collaboration project with John Foxx and Steve D'Agostino
Evidence of Time Travel never ceases to grab my full attention and immerse me in the world of distorted and alternate reality visions culled from a series of Sony Trinitron, TACHYON, Extron, Wobulators and Betamax machines. The newest installment, to me, is
Volume V but I don't think I've fully experienced many of the other video pieces - such as
Labyrinth or
A Blurred Line of Fiction.
I see plenty of 80's nostalgia based art but this particular project always treats it as a high class undertaking, not a tongue-in-cheek homage to vintage tech. I will keep returning to this well as long as it's filled.

Andy tweeted about the Internet
Yami-Ichi that is coming up in New York and I'm incredibly intrigued. It is 'a free to attend “Internet-ish†flea market' and that vague definition couldn't be more enticing. I could do further research but I have a feeling that the weirdness of it all is best experienced in person. Have a browse through their Geocities-esque site and enjoy the infinite looping vertical scroll, the meandering globe and maybe I'll see you there.

The wonderfully talented
A Micah Smith has relaunched his official site / portfolio and it's filled with wonderful creations to peruse. I'm particularly enjoying this
Baja Burrito work and his
David Byrne / St Vincent merch but, honestly, I enjoy it all. He always has a nice playfulness to his work but it still feels intentional and controlled - a nice balance.
