TURBO KID Teaser - I'm rather enjoying this continuing trend of reaping nostalgia tropes and pushing them further into some new insanity. This is the oddest blend of Horror story, Mad Max, Mega-Man I've ever witnessed. And that's saying something.
Frankie and Johnny's Furniture: See the Special Man - this old commercial doesn't really take off for a full 30 seconds so stick with it and keep sticking with it. The payoff is worth it. There's even a decent parody. via Jeremy.
Lars Andersen: a new level of archery
The supermarket cow dance - this one came in via Lee last week under the wire but it has serious staying power. I've watched it no less than 10 times this week.
The Bad Sleep Well (1960) - The Geometry of a Scene - not funny or ridiculous, just another fine creation from Tony Zhou.
Clever little raccoon walking across some phone wires - the actual animal antics here are good but the narration.. pure gold. via Becky.

Jeff Bridges Sleeping Tapes

You gotta hand it to Squarespace for this Superbowl Campaign - Dreaming with Jeff. Not only did they manage to get the man himself, Jeff Bridges, to put his name to their product but they had him actually record an entire album. It's pretty weird but I think that's the appeal.

I suggest watching the commercial campaign and then diving into the site.

I'm loving this collection of Ambient Sci-Fi Loops. They function along the same lines of those coffee shop ambient loops but, ya know, focus more on the idling noise of the NCC-1701D or the world outside Deckard's apartment. If those two things sound foreign to you, this might not be up your alley. Otherwise, enjoy your new background noise.

Sleep Good, Dream Dealer

I stumbled into the new album from Sleep Good, Dream Dealer, and I am instantly hook. It's ambient, dreamy and atmospheric but doesn't take the backseat when listening. It feels like part of a bigger world or story that hasn't been fully revealed.

I spoke with Sleep Good, aka Will Patterson, about the creation of the album and he had some wonderful insight to share:

So since Skyclimber I took off music for a couple years and worked in film as a sound designer. I worked for Terrence Malick on two new films thats he's putting out. I was inspired by the process and wanted to try to piece an album together like a film...So I recorded about 60 tracks over the span of a year with the idea that they could be like scenes. After that I whittled everything down and combined tracks to be this sort of musical sound track.

The experience certainly shows with the new album. It is a wonderful creation and I hope this is not the last we hear of it. I know January is an early time to consider best creations for the year (the exhaustion of December's lists still lingers) but keep this one around for the next 12 months, I think it has serious staying power.

Lastly, take note of Blackland Hall, a new recording studio put together by Mr. Patterson focused on doing sound work for films and recording bands.
