I've been rather enjoying the work of Brendan Megannety and his Explorer's Press - a brand largely comprised of a collection of patches and pins with a few miscellany items thrown in for good measure. I'm loving this Cat Patch and Sunday Morning Pin Pack - they're the perfect balance of slightly kitsch and perfectly enjoyable.

Terrifying bus crash in New Mexico - Terrifying is absolutely the right word. So glad this guy is okay. I can't believe people still don't wear seatbelts.
Frisbee Giant - Malcolm Sutherland has always been a favorite and it's especially nice to see him branch out in some new directions. It's weird but in the best way.
Last Man on Earth - two great things from this long preview. One, I had no idea Will Forte was given his own show, GREAT. Two, I wasn't overly familiar with the work of Ennio Morricone and I'm fully immersing myself now.
Aaron Draplin Takes On a Logo Design Challenge - in case you missed this over the break, please watch Draplin as he goes through his design process and quickly comes up with some worthwhile choices.
Face Hacking / Real-Time Face Tracking - in the future, we will be able to mask our faces with 3D projections. In the future, everything is terrifying.

Caller Go Ahead

I started listening to the first episode of Caller Go Ahead this morning - a new podcast that is entirely comprised of voicemail messages left at (702) 546-6329. The content of the messages range from trivial "hello's" to more genuine outpourings of frustration. Listening to many of the callers creates a feeling of actual pathos - you understand their hard times through your own. And, sometimes, you find them absurd and ridiculous and causing their own problems. It's just like life!

I also have a weird affinity for the sound quality of voicemails. There's always something a bit hollow and distant with them that I find appealing. Not to mention the anonymity of the blind phone number that gives people the ability to say whatever they want.

Long story short, start listening, it seems worth a spin.
