Not gonna lie, I spent way too much time browsing through the reviews of "classic and obscure" videogames over at VG Junk. I'd never heard of Pizza Pops or Pig Out but I was entranced reading about them. Even if you've no interest in partaking in the reviews it's fun to browse through all the pixel artwork and various styles that developers were able to pull off working with so little. Beyond that, there's some advertising ephemera that is so ridiculous that it's hard not to enjoy.

It's an overwhelming amount of content to take in but Agile Designers has a ton of resources worth taking note of. Looking for icons? Textures? Brushes? They got plenty of all of it (to say the least). It's maybe a bit too much to be presenting itself as a curating site but it's likely that you'll find some worthwhile tools in there if you click around for a bit.

Many many thanks to Lance Conzett and the Nashville Scene for this Label Makers profile on YK Records. I never expected the experiment to ever make it to 20+ releases but I'm happy with how things are going and all of the great artists I've have the great fortune to be involved with. I owe Ross Wariner a debt of gratitude for inspiring the first release...

Now seems like as good a time as any to announce the first preview of the next release from the label. YK021 will be the debut album from NYC (by way of Nashville) Talking With Hands. The first track off their album, The World and Ourselves, can be heard right here. Many crazy thanks to Uncle Skeleton, Codaphonic, Shaboi, Slowmotions, And The Relatives, Kindercastle, Nahnee Bori, Roy Ira, Tipper Whore, Forget Cassettes and Hotpipes for all the awesome opportunities. Here's to many more as move forward!

The latest Chrome Experiment, Roll It, is an incredibly impressive display of Desktop to Mobile syncing. The Skee-Ball game may not be the most practical solution for such a great blossoming technology but it's a good way to show off a lot of different features with a bit of fun. Web applications may not be able to compete fully with native apps yet but endeavors like this one show that it's really just a matter of time.

This is just adorable. Projecto is a tiny projector that displays nine of your favorite Instagram photos. It's like a nu-school super-deluxe ViewMaster that just happens to project the images out. Even if this is just an overly clever hoax (I don't believe it is), it's too cute to ignore.

I'm told that the portfolio of Holly Stewart hasn't been updated in some time but I'm rather enjoying the offerings that are there. A proud pig logo for a BBQ restaurant? A classic Ranger patch for a bluegrass band? Yes Please to both! Eventually more work will be visible at LambWorks.com - I'm going to keep an eye out for it.

Will this be the last installment of the We Own This Town podcast that I curate? It's entirely possible. But probably not. I feel compelled to make it to Volume 65 and champion Nashville music even if I'm living in New York. Time will tell how it all shakes out. Disregard the fact that it's all exclusively Nashville music, it's just 37 minutes of quality music. The qualifier really isn't necessary.

Last night I had the great enjoyment of taking in a viewing of the great unsung 1978 sci-fi journey Message from Space. It is, essentially, the Japanese response to Star Wars. Watch the trailer and then immediately queue it up.

But that's really just the impetus behind the point here. While looking up additional info on the movie I ran across the blog Space1970 - a fan's tribute to all things science fiction within the decade known for its interplanetary models, model spaceships, inventive practical effects and groundbreaking (at the time) digital effects. A lot of it looks kitsch now but there's still plenty of inspiring imagery and typography throughout.

Last night Jamie informed me of a new silencing plugin for your device that we're affectionally referring to as the "iPhone Pyramid." There's really no better name for Mutator because that's exactly what it is - a tiny pyramid that plugs into the headphone jack of your iPhone and really silences the device. In other words, the "mute" on the side isn't enough (some apps circumvent it) and an additional plugin is needed. Yes, you could just turn the phone off but who considers that as an option? Seriously.

In the long run, it's kind of a silly idea but despite that, it's a well designed little device and their website, while simple, has an awesomely gloomy vibe to it.

I dunno what it is about BULLY but I'm rather enjoying all that they have to offer so far. Granted, they've only put three songs out into the world (officially) but this latest track, Brainfreeze, is just a perfect little slice of summer rock. I won't lie, I get a bit of a mid-90's nostalgia vibe from it that reminds me of Juliana Hatfield or Giant Drag but those seem like complementary comparisons rather than backhanded compliments.
