The team at Monkey lectric are looking to take their Monkey Light wheel system and blow it out into a Monkey Light Pro Display System. Basically, it's a pretty impressively robust LED light display system for your bike wheels. Kitschy? Maybe. Fascinating Technology? Definitely. Their Kickstarter campaign does a great job of presenting the idea and the reasons why they need $180k. Ultimately, for me, the $500 backer level is just too extreme to be able to rationalize the cost but it does look like a worthwhile endeavor from a legit group of knowledgeable folk. If I were a bit more of a bike nerd, I'd be all over this.

Did you know Google+ had an editorial arm called Google+ Stories? It's similar to Tumblr's now defunct Storyboard but they do a better job of showcasing the Google+ suite of tools inside the content to show the creative ways it's being used. Check the Ghetto Film School piece for a subject that could, easily, feel exploitative or overly pitch-y but just feels like honest storytelling.

The writeup behind Duane Dalton's Album Anatomy explains the reductionist, gridded, inspired thinking behind the process involved in making a series of posters connected to his favorite albums but, at the end of the day, all you need to know is that these are compositions inspired by a variety of music many of us are familiar with. I was actually pretty shocked (and pleased) to see The Features in the list amongst other contemporaries like Beach House, Interpol and AIR.

Ready for a long Memorial Day weekend? I am! So, let's begin the goofing off immediately.

• Starburst Crazy Arms - I realize it's not an official commercial but if Skittles can be this wacky, why can't Starburst? I love it.
• Tobias Funke Viral Reel - the new season of Arrested Development starts this Sunday.. watch Tobias Funke invade popular Internet videos in anticipation.
• Mandom Gatsby - I realize I could do a very low level Internet search to find out what this ad campaign is all about but I choose not. Ignorance is bliss.
• Mad Men meets Daft Punk - if this doesn't take off as an attempted meme I'll be really surprised. That being said, it seems like the perfect mash-up has already been achieved.
• Message from Space (1978) - if your movie trailer features a pirate ship floating through space, I'm in. I am sure this movie is terrible but there's just too much to love in this trailer to not try and watch it.
• Catherine - typically the Jenny Slate & Dean Fleischer-Camp combo is obviously hilarious, albeit always a bit weird. This series for Youtube comedy week finds them leaning way more on the weird side. There's nothing funny here except how stale it is. That's the joke. And the music, which makes it creepy. I can't explain it but I'm drawn in.
• Neosignal - Planet Online - this is it. This is The Video. 80's nostalgia out the wazoo applied to Internet technology. I can, and will, watch this on repeat for the remainder of the day.
• XBox One Highlights - did you watch the XBox One announcement? Yea, no one did. But this will catch you up real quick. TV.
• Miles Fischer - Finish What We Started - just a good natured Classic Dance-Off music video. It's got it all.
• Ibizious Energy Drink - not gonna lie; the sexual elements of this video probably make it NSFW but the 80's vibe, the videogame references and just general "WTF" nature of the whole thing makes it not to be missed.

Found myself immersed in the portfolio of Daniel Oeffinger and was entranced by the diversity of work. These Danimals are incredibly well crafted and amusing, this Sundance pitch is a mish mash of harmonious styles, and these F5 Titles are incredibly perfect. That's just three of many inspired examples.

"The Repeater is a place where musicians can talk about music." Sounds simple but music discussion often gets lost in ratings and an undercurrent of consumerism. Conceptually, it sounds great. I'm still diving into the actual contents but this William Tyler piece on The Randy Travis Rule is a pretty great place to start.

I love Subtle Patterns, love it. I often grab their offerings and import them into the preset pattern tiler. So, it's great to see that they're coming out with a Photoshop plugin that automatically does all that for me. Oh, and it's always synced with the latest patterns. Can Not Wait.
