Hook.js is an easy to implement bit of code to give your website that "pull to refresh" behavior. Granted, it's only appropriate for a particular type of site but it's great that the worlds of native app and web app continue to blur and merge.

Shorts HD has been doing a great job with their programming on the whole but I really appreciated the fact that they worked with the 2013 Oscar Shorts - in Animation, Documentary and Live Action. It's easy to see all the major motion picture films for the Oscars every year but catching up with the Shorts is, typically, much more difficult. I caught the Animation and Documentary programs and highly recommend them. You can snag them on iTunes or VOD.

Enjoying the collage style works from Greg Lamarache, particularly those inspired by ransom note style cut-and-paste lettering.

Loving this site from NY agency Canvas. I'm a big fan of the reactive scrolling pages and they do it extremely well here - though I am particularly entertained by the Day / Night Slider almost more than anything.

When I first started reading this great Pitchfork article about the Columbus, OH recording studio + vinyl manufacturing plant Musicol I was a bit skeptical about the quality of a vinyl record that could possibly emerge from a hand-pressed device. I mean, wouldn't there be such a huge margin for error that it couldn't possibly be good? Then I realized how absurd and narrow minded of a perspective that was. From there, I soaked myself in the notion that not only is there no reason for the final product to be anything less than what a machine can do but that each record is extremely steeped in the craft of their creation. A lovely thought in and of itself.

I'll be honest, I can't tell if this artists retrospective from Lula Chamberlain called Limits & Demonstrations is actually part of Kentucky Route Zero or its own entirely separate entity. I guess I'll just have to download both and figure it out. Regardless of their connection, the art is great. I am so compelled by that non-aliased style that Cardboard Computer does so well.

This weeks playlist may be a little heavy on the animal videos but, ya know what, deal with it! They are delightful, I promise.

• Desert Rain Frog - c'mon now. Adorable.
• Darwin Deez - "You Can't Be My Girl" - brilliant music video comprised entirely of stock video footage with the artist inserted into every shot. Not a bad song either.
• Crazy Dentist Commercial - the story behind this is that Brian Hawes asked his dentist friend if he could make him a commercial, he was denied but Hawes decided to make it anyway. Do I believe that? No. Am I fairly entertained by the video? Absolutely.
• Matty the Baby Sloth - Thank you Jeremy.
• Oscar the Racoon Dog Dentist - also there is a kitten that wanders into frame. What doesn't this video have?
• Kittens on the Beat - incredibly well done music video featuring a bunch of night creatures being attacked by some kittens. Who doesn't love kittens going wild in slow motion? Don't miss the Bonus Kittens.
