Gestalten.tv has a nice mini documentary on Slinkachu - the street artist known for placing tiny little people interacting with the environment. I've long been a fan of his work and it's nice to see a little bit of video of him putting the pieces in place and insightful to hear what he thinks of the undertaking. Take some time out of your day to watch it.. it's good stuff.

The only bummer about this collection of Color Mugshots is that it ends so quickly. Who knows what heinous crimes these people may have committed but I love that their police record looks like an artistic portrait than anything else. It's fairly remarkable just how much you can tell about a person's personality when they're having their mugshot taken.

This repository of Phil Kirkland 1970s science textbook illustrations - aka An artist's interpretation of a teenager's head exploding in science class - is an absolutely unbelievable psychedelic undertaking. I've no idea what textbooks look like these days but I know if they contained images anywhere close to this calibre I'd be paying a whole lot of attention.

I'd recommend diving into the rest of images on 50 Watts but, selfishly, I'd rather peruse it myself and keep sharing individual collections. Every set there is capable of blowing your mind in some fashion.

• jQuery Raptorize - "an awesome jQuery plugin that unleashes a Raptor." You really don't need to know more than that.
• Photoshop Automator Actions - enable Automator to run actions inside of Photoshop. While I don't think any of the features are all that handy, it does open some doors to rolling your own that could be incredibly beneficial.

Yea, that's right - a post more important than Friday videos! Today, the tenth album from little label experiment is officially released. It's a big deal!

number b is the second full-length album from Kindercastle and I couldn't be prouder of it. It's a collection of pop songs influenced by a range of musicians the likes of ELO, Raymond Scott, Mouse on Mars.. it's a long list. "Pop" music often gets associated with being vapid and shallow but this is smart, catchy, clever and feels genuine. I could gush on and on about what I love about every song but I'd let you decide for yourself.

We printed up a limited amount of white vinyl with beautiful cover art from S.Britt. It is a real treasure to hold. It's $10; you can't beat that.

Personally, I feel like this weeks playlist knocks it out of the park. That is to say, I'm incredibly entertained from start to finish.

• Star Wars - "Welcome to the Jungle" - I know I harp on Star Wars stuff being easy fodder for the Internet but Chewbacca as Axl Rose backed up by an Ewok Slash is not something even I can deny. Oh, and a Jawa playing Storm Trooper drums? Too much!
• Captain Murphy Inquires - it's nearing the end of Moustache May; this is a good mentality to keep in mind forever.
• Grandma and Baby: Day at the Park - I don't know why these masks exist. I don't know why someone decided to film this. I don't know why I can't look away. It's equally disturbing and hysterical.
• Cop Weed - a dirty cop and his wife "overdose" on marijuana and call 911. As usual, anyone that is too high and freaking out is bound to release some great quotes.
• Oops - wait for it.. wait for it... waaaaait for it.
• Drunk Ron Swanson - the best five seconds you will experience today. Or take in the Extended Cut for the best 30 seconds you'll encounter today
• Poo Genie - this is probably in poor taste (no pun intended) and not something you might expect from me but 2:30 of stupid animated poop and fart jokes from Japan is not something I can look away from.
• Abed on Cougartown - you may recall an episode of Community where Abed regales Jeff with a tale about appearing on Cougar Town (directed by Richard Ayoade no less!). It sounds absurd... but it turns out, they made it happen. Apparently the creators of both shows are friends. Kind of enforces how great "Community" is even more than they already had.

• Big Cats play with iPad - yep, I'm a sucker for big wild cats acting like house cats.
• Bridges on Bridges with Beau Bridges - ridiculous Funny or Die sketch via Matt and Oz.
• Klingon Lesson 1 - um, there's too much awesome here for me to even get into why I love it. Maybe not "main playlist" quality but it's pretty great.
• Smallville: Finale Emotions - apparently this is an uber-fan of the show documenting his real time reactions to the plot developments. If this is at all real, I'll be shocked... and completely blown away that anyone reacts this way to anything!

Absolutely loving this series from Berenice Abbott entitled "Changing New York." Taken between 1935 and 1938 it's pretty amazing to see how different the city and, somehow, still quite familiar. I mean, the bit of time I've been in NYC I've never encountered large bundles of rope on sale but I've absolutely encountered some great newstands. Long story short, go through every one.

What cave have I been living in where I haven't been checking out the works of Craig & Karl? The two may live on opposite sides of the world (New York / Sydney) but you'd never realize any sort of inconsistency in the work because of it. There is so much incredible work in the portfolio it's hard to even know where to start. Here? Here? Here? Here? There's no bad place to start. Amazing!

• Google: Make Your Phone Your Wallet - As previously discussed, the future of banking seems to be inevitably tied to your phone. NFC will see to that. Oh, and apparently Google will too. They've announced that they're field testing their new Google Wallet - which you can read about here. I have a bit of trepidation about having my account be tied to my phone but I think it's the inevitable future.
• WebP: 39.8% faster than JPEG - in other Google news, their new image format WebP seems to finally be getting some steam for adoption. As I said before, I don't foresee this taking off big time because of the pace of Internet Explorer adoption but it's nice to know that influential folk are starting to rally behind it.

Eric Mortenson' blog has always been a captivating source of insightful reads, entertaining reads and various other web goods but it just dawned on me yesterday that he actually has an incredible repository of glitch images to peruse. This is such a bizarre animation that it's hard to not just keep staring at it.

If you recall the Olly Moss Cut Out Show I posted about you may also remember that there weren't a ton of detailed images of the individual pieces - not so anymore! Check them all out here and be amazed just how many you recognize. I thought I was impressed before but having seen the detail of everything, I'm blown away.

This repository of Disney Tattoos is full of jaw dropping "Are you serious?" moments. I mean; Jar Jar calf tattoo? Photo Realistic Mad Hatter? Craziness! That being said, there are plenty of great, clever, well executed pieces in there as well.

Wanted to send out a big congratulations to my pals over at Silent Uproar Records. They've been going strong for ten years and just recently relaunched their site in celebration of this milestone. In that time they've managed to release music from a ridiculously wide range of artists - and they seem to just really be getting going lately. The Capulets, Metroid Metal and Push Pals have all come out somewhat recently and they're all top notch. I'm happy those guys have been able to keep the project going and maintain such a level of variety in their offerings. It's an inspiring source for myself!

I'll be honest, I've never used any framework for actual production. I use the 960gs photoshop templates for design but haven't ever deployed the CSS into an actual product. However, that fact may change now that I've run across the Less Framework; an uber-simple system that is setup specifically for adaptive layouts. Maybe the next design of this site (still fictional) should be built on it...

Yesterday I received an email from, now defunct, Thee More Shallows informing me that they'd posted the demos that they recorded for Book of Bad Breaks. I was hesitant to post about it because I assumed if you weren't a fan, you might not be so interested to hear it. However, having listened through the offerings.. I can't imagine everyone not enjoying it on some level. That is assuming that you like good music. You do, right?

Anyway, I think it's phenomenal and I hope you do too. So, go grab the demos and then go investigate their new band, Fops.

I am really enjoying the works of Hector Mansilla, aka Againstbound, and will go ahead and make the assumption that you will as well. I love his illustration style and color palette on just about every single item. Pieces like A World Within (and the alternate) appeal perfectly to the nerdier side of us all and, perhaps inversely, something like Mountain of Madness is just entirely badass.

It's been over a year since I first mentioned the gmail sidebar contact list add-on Rapportive but, for whatever reason, I'm just now getting around to actually installing it. They've done some massive changes to the latest version and it looks quite nice! Perhaps more importantly, it actually functions extremely well too. It's scary how much information it can pull up on one person based solely on their email address but it ends up being quite handy!

If anyone has any idea where this image came from, please let me know. I ran it through TinEye but came back with zero results (and don't know of any other Reverse Image Lookup systems). I love the image and would love to investigate more from whomever took it.

Take a few minutes to read this article on Why two engineers left Apple to build a Flash alternative: The Hype. If you did not know, Hype is an HTML5 animation tool - creating a WYSIWYG type environment for a non-Flash impact. It's $30 so I have not used it yet but I am fairly intrigued by the gallery of examples. Something to keep an eye on.
