I\'ve had a great deal of new, Nashville, music coming my way lately and felt it was time for another edition of the We Own This Town podcast. This Flickr set is pretty amazing - a collection of uncovered posters from the London Underground from circa 1956-1959. I am particularly partial to the illustrated posters - as it is a style you really just don\'t ever see anymore in legitimate advertising.

I\'ve been meaning to post about the AIR Video App for some time as it is, without a doubt, one of the best pieces of software I\'ve acquired to bring together media across devices.

I\'ve got a rather large collection of media on a central computer at my house but, until AIR Video, I could only watch it directly on the TV it is connected to. After installing the server software on that computer and the remote App on other devices I am now able to live stream any of those videos directly to another device - iPhone, iPod, iPad, etc. The quality is great and the interface is extremely simple.

No more converting video formats and syncing up - it\'s all just available over the air. Perfect. Oh, and they\'re working on have it work with remote access as well.. so you really could access your media from anywhere.

I\'ve known Paul Cox for some time via the Internets but it hasn\'t been until recently that he\'s revived his music blog, Mondo Salvo. He\'s been posting a regular smattering of music from a wide range of artists; i.e. from Mark Ronson to Blackbird Blackbird to Andre 3000 to Unknown Mortal Orchestra to.. well.. you get the point. He\'s got taste that waivers into the commercial zone of music and deep into the unknown indie / electronic world as well. It\'s a great combo and I can\'t suggest adding it to your daily reads enough.

It\'s been a minute since my last mix so I thought I\'d toss something together and put it out there. It\'s thirteen tracks and just a quick forty-five minutes but I think it\'s an enjoyable listen from top to bottom. For some reason this year I\'ve found myself anticipating the summer months moreso than years past and this mix helps to herald in that anxiety.

Apparently someone on Reddit noticed that a particular newspaper prop has been used in a number of movies and TV shows - recurring throughout decades of productions. This article compiles a ton of examples of the paper appearing in all sorts of places - Married With Children, Seinfeld, No Country for Old Men, Lucky Louie, etc. etc. The explanation for the phenomena is found here but it\'s exactly what you\'d assume - it\'s cheaper to use a prop paper than it is to license a legit one. Regardless, it\'s a fun bit of trivia to keep an eye out for.

• Safari Extensions Tumblr - a Tumblog setup to keep track of emerging Safari extensions while the official gallery is still under construction. I am a little wary of extensions being a huge culprit in slowing down the browser or creating unnecessary bugs but we\'ll just have to wait and see!
• Twitter rolls out link shortner - it\'s not widely available yet but all outgoing Twitter links will be wrapped in t.co urls starting sometime this summer. I\'m not sure how this will work if you\'re somehow already auto-shortening your URL\'s - will there be double obfuscation? Again, have to wait and see I suppose.
• Adobe Flash security flaw - apparently this one potential affects any Mac, PC or Linux user running the Flash plugin. Adobe\'s solution is to have you upgrade to the \'release candidate\' of Flash 10.1. I\'m not saying this is that big of a deal but I am saying it\'s rather bad timing with the whole Apple vs Adobe feud.

Ryan Simpson has no shortage inspiring works in his portfolio but I\'m particularly smitten with his latest identity rework for The Children\'s Playhouse. The end result is a nice piece of work but you really appreciate it once you read through the entire creative process involved with coming to the final mark.

Loving the illustration style found in the works from Nick Derington. He also tends to draw a lot of retro-future-esque pieces; kids in spacesuits, alien exploration and comic book related items.. all good to me. His official site has plenty of worthwhile goods to check out as well but nothing as hilariously engaging as the (mildly NSFW) Hulkness series.

The always enjoyable Tiny Showcase has teamed up with Jen Corace to produce a 7 x 10 print on sale for a limited time with proceeds going toward the Gulf Restoration Network. Granted, every TS print gives a little back to some community but I don\'t think we\'ve even begun to crack the surface of the oil spill fiasco.. this is going to continue for a very long time and relief efforts will be massively needed (especially considering that the spill will end up affecting huge portions of the coast, not just the Gulf).

Similarly to our previous release with Josh Keyes, in which we raised $28,000 for Haitian earthquake relief efforts, this print will be double the size of a traditional print and 50% your purchase will be donated to an organization that has been working in the region previous to the disaster, will continue to work throughout the disaster, and hopefully into eternity when there is never again such a thing as a disastrous spill any greater than your icecream hitting the curb.

So, please, check out the artwork and give some dollars to helping in the ongoing cleanup effort.

While it\'s not actually available yet, I have to say that Coda Notes looks like it might end up being one of those indispensable pieces of software that every web developer in their right mind will be using. Giving clients the ability to leave direct notes about designs might end up being a terrible idea but in theory it will streamline the feedback process.

Underwood Stories is an ambitious project. The idea is that twice a year two writers will produce a short story that will be read aloud, pressed to vinyl and released in limited capacity. Toby Litt, author of The Hare, one of the initial authors in this undertaking has this to say of the project:

“Buying an LP of a short story is like making a promise to yourself that you will take a brief holiday from all the gabble. Once the record’s playing, you’ll give your attention to it. I think a lot of us are looking for that kind of self-discipline.”

I can\'t disagree with that. Vinyl gets a bad rap for being so entrenched with coolness / hipster culture but it does require a level of engagement that I think is becoming more and more foreign. Having a book read aloud requires even more of a commitment.

• jQuery Theme Roller - the jQuery UI tools are pretty solid on the whole but it always felt like they took forever to skin. Either I wasn\'t paying attention or they just launched the Theme Roller that takes the pain out of that process. Good looking out.
• HTML5 Detection Techniques - loving the walkthrough of Modernizr; a simple javascript add-on that creates a load of Booleans to know what your end users browser can support. It doesn\'t add features, it just helps you know what you\'re working with.

If this site had \"reblogs\" - this would be one of them and I\'d expect you to do the same. Paige has posted a new mix, Holy Carp, and, as usual, I recommend you grab it.

I was fortunate enough to catch Exit Through The Gift Shop over the weekend and it delivered in every way I had hoped for. I knew going in that while the film is touted as \"A Banksy Movie\" it really has less to do with Banksy himself and more to do with this guy - lovable, affable Thierry Guetta.

I won\'t speak too much to the overall plot of the film because it would sour the experience but it is a fantastic look at the history of street art that parlays into the \"high art\" world perfectly. If you\'ve not seen the film, watch this and then find a way to see it. If you have seen it, I suggest you read through this and form your own decision.

As HTML5 makes it way more and more into the public it\'s good to keep yourself familiarized with all it has to offer. I think it\'s going to be some time before it\'s widely adopted but there are so many great features within, I think it\'s safe to say that it\'s going to be exciting to write. This HTML5 Presentation covers a lot of basics of what the new standard has in store.. if you weren\'t convinced of the greatness of HTML5, this should do it.

I will be the first to admit that the onslaught of Star Wars related material on the Internet is overwhelming to the point of exhaustion. Granted, there are always exceptions to the rule but, for the most part, I get worn out on constantly running into Chewbacca and Darth Vader humor.

However, I can not deny the job well done on this Adidas ad; featuring new footage of Daft Punk, Snoop Dogg, David Beckham, Noel Gallagher, Jay Baruchel, and more seamlessly integrated into the original Mos Eisley Cantina scene. Mostly I\'m just geekily pleased to see Daft Punk standing next to C3PO and, yes, I am embarrassed to admit that.

• Rick K and The AllNighters - If you haven\'t seen this video yet this week, it will soon be emailed to you by your wacky co-worker. Jump ahead to about 1 minute in to see the ridiculous drummer antics.
• BRODYQUEST - at first, I hated it. Then I stuck with it and ended up loving it. I think you will too.
• Cat Fights Mirror Cat - I love that the cat is not aware enough to realize it is seeing a reflection but is smart enough to think to attack behind the mirror. This will likely send me down into a YouTube vortex of \"Cat Fights Mirror\" related videos.
• Birds of Britain - this is much much dry\'er than what I usually serve up but there\'s nothing like some good ole fashioned British faux documentary to amuse me. The part about baby birds sold me.
• Bucket Head attacks VIP car - wait until the guy jumps off the car. Did you see that coming?
• Abe Lincoln - Whitest Kids U Know are crass, dumb and usually so far off the mark that I don\'t even bother watching an entire skit but this one does it for me. It\'s still crass and dumb but just the right balance.

• Cupcake Cannon - amusing for a bit.
• Hair Conditioner - ridiculous. I want to see that car in real life.

Gaijin Games recently released Bit.Trip Runner - a Wii Ware game where you control a crudely animated runner through a myriad of obstacles - all solvable by jumping, ducking, kicking or some combination thereof. If you aren\'t familiar with the Bit.Trip series of games, it\'s all rhythmically based button mashing but doesn\'t actually require that you be the type of person to have much natural rhythm.

It is, quite honestly, one of the more addicting games I\'ve played lately. It\'s simple enough to be played by anyone but intense enough at times to challenge even a veteran gamer who might consider themselves \'better than\' a side scroller. I love it and can\'t recommend it enough.

Thanks to a this guy I think it\'s safe to say I\'m fully addicted.
