Courtney sent me a heads up on this article: How Apple and Google\'s Romance Turned to Hate and I have to say it was a much more comprehensive read than I was expecting.

It\'s always a bit of a bummer when you think highly of tech companies and then get snatched back into reality when you realize that, deep down, they are mega corporations looking to make a buck and any amount of helping each other out / helping the greater good is not really their bottom line. Competition breeds innovation so I am sure something good will come of this but it\'d be great if they played nice and integrated all sorts of great Google Cloud Tech™ with Apple OS Goodness®.

I spent a good amount of time playing my DS last week while I was on various planes / layovers so the announcement of this DSi XL couldn\'t be better timed. My hands cramp up pretty quickly when spending any decent amount of time with my current device so I\'m rather intrigued by the idea of something with a slightly bigger form factor. And, honestly, I\'m an old man with failing eyes - so a bigger screen doesn\'t hurt either. The stylus looks a bit on the horsey side but I\'m sure if I got to try it out, I\'d love it too.

There\'s a good possibility I\'ve seen this plane boneyard before but it\'s been awhile so I\'m struck with the same awe I was the first time I saw it. There\'s something alarmingly precise about the whole thing that you just can\'t deny.

His photography work is what drew me in but the design work kept me poking around the portfolio.. lots of textured collage-y goods mixed with space / animal / mountain textures. It has become quite obvious that I\'m a total sucker for the ways of Archer I\'ve been attempting to force myself to branch out a bit more. That being said, I really love this Jubilat typeface... The lighter / italicized versions are undeniable.

Border Radius is an extremely handy single function website to help remind you of the markup needed to enact those fancy cornered boxes in CSS. The more you use it the less you\'ll need it (memory retention and all) but you gotta love how convenient it is for those times when you can\'t quite rack your brain for the proper verbage.

I suggest checking them out, even if you aren\'t into bikes (I don\'t call myself a bike nerd by any stretch of the imagination) - the designs are super intriguing.

This may have zero interest to those of you that don\'t know the parties involved but I\'m loving this Penguin Prison remix of Jack Penate that Wild Cub (aka Keegan DeWitt) put together featuring the drunken voicemail ramblings of one Travis Archer. I think \"Stream of conciousness voicemail\" is high on my list of things that make a song enjoyable regardless of the rest of the context.. this tracks confirms that.

Lurking through the archives of Kateopolis I came across the portfolio of Alejandro Chavetta and I\'ve been digging through all he has to offer for some time this morning. The Moon Men series are among my favorite but there are plenty of collage goods to partake in. Have a little poke around.. there\'s something in there you\'ll love.

Kid Static has posted a ten-track record, Hypnotized, up on bandcamp for free download. Why he is bestowing such treats upon the land for no charge is unknown at this time but I\'m taking full advantage. Not being overly familiar with his catalog I can\'t say if this album is atypical in its sound for him but it certainly seems to feature a lot less \"rapping\" than I would have assumed it would. I\'m intrigued and pleased. Go get it.

Yesterday marked the end of Whiskerino, a bittersweet event in my life for sure. Since 2003 I\'ve been having some sort of biennial beard growing event and now I\'ve officially closed the book on it. Granted, I\'ve still got other avenues of mini-social networking but it\'s not quite the same.

While I\'m sure hearing me go on and on about Whiskerino is the last thing anyone really wants to read about I have to say that I\'m extremely proud of it. I don\'t know why it worked as well as it did but it\'s insanely humbling to see how connected people are and to know that legitimate friendships were created via a facial hair contest. Ridiculous.

Anyway, just a heads up.. this is likely the last you\'ll hear of Whiskerino for some time. Thanks to everyone who participated or watched from the sidelines, it was much appreciated.

Vimeo has been known to implement some pretty awesome ads on their site in the past and they\'ve done it again with this Tostitos \"And Then There Was Salsa\" campaign. Granted, Vimeo didn\'t put together the ad or fully endorse Tostitos products but they integrated the ad into the full browser experience that it is.. beautifully done. Being heavily advertised to is fine when it\'s as enjoy as this.. go check it out.

Wow, the design of Ricardo Mestre\'s Duplos is great.. very fun, loose and refreshing. Love the textured background, the color onslaught and the small little movements but, most of all, I love that its not Flash. HTML / CSS / Javascript is really ranking up in my book as the preferred mode of execution for websites.

I\'ve been spending some time in San Francisco the past few days and, despite it being a tech town, I find myself being offline a whole lot more. That means less time stumbling upon random Internet finds, which means less things to blog about. I\'m sure no one minds but I always feel the need to explain my lack of content.
