I went nuts this week.. not sure what you\'ll think of them all but I find myself highly amused by the majority of it. Enjoy the playlist.

• Crazy Koala Fight - up until seeing this video I considered Koala\'s lovable, cuddly creatures. Now I know they are capable of something far more terrifying. Those noises will haunt me. Via Chad.
• Your Cat Is Tripping Balls - apparrently Friskies takes your cat into a portal of magical wonderment beyond his wildest dreams.
• Grande Days - public access TV on youtube is the best combination since peanut butter and chocolate. I think I legitimately love the song. Via Hale.
• The Saddest Beard in the World - yes, this is an oldie (and also Hale himself) but Whiskerino ends on Sunday. This is appropriate.
• Hale Tribute 2010 - Falfa pays tribute to the previous video. Spot on.
• Horse Apples Closeups - deleted scene from Wonder Showzen that will probably make you ill but amuse in the process.
• Spoon - Written in Reverse - nothing too crazy about this but I\'ve been loving the new Spoon record so much lately that I felt it only appropriate to post this.
• Subway Pigeon - with enough patience, even a Pigeon can behave himself on public transportation.
• Attacked by Pelican - yes this is totally America\'s Funniest Home Video style but that mans screams are too amusing not to enjoy.

If that somehow isn\'t enough for you, try your hand at Hoop Dreams or anything from Luke Prior.. some craziness in there.

The Large Hadron Collider still isn\'t entirely up and running but the Brookhaven National Lab\'s Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) is operational and doing some crazy things. Such as:

...they showed off some of that power by announcing that a recent collision resulted in the hottest matter ever recorded. Coming in at a scorching 7.2 trillion degrees Fahrenheit, the plasma not only recreated the environment of the Big Bang, but might have also resulted in the temporary formation of a bubble within which some normal laws of physics did not apply.

Coupled with this:

...if these results are vindicated, the bubbles seem to hint that the laws of physics are not fixed across all space, and could change depending on size and temperature.

Insanity. It\'s tough to even begin to wrap your brain around that.

• Lost Cosmonauts - Joey and I were discussing the idea of someone going into space on a rogue mission and being lost.. has it ever happened? Turns out there is some unverified speculation that, indeed, it has.
• Overriding Text Selection Colors with CSS - this is the nerdiest of nerd tricks but such a nice touch when implemented on a site. Consider this marked down as \"to do\" for the next version of yewknee.
• Drunk Memphis mom runs through school with sword - I think the headline sort of says it all.

Alex Merto has plenty of great entries in his portfolio that are worth your time but the Effing Typeface has a humorously juvenile appeal that is well worth your time. The images included here, in this post, are among the tame.. while only illustrated letters its still safe to say if NSFW imagery is a concern at your workplace, this is not for you.

If great illustrations featuring boobies, bodily fluids, sexy iconography and the occasional penis sound amusing (and they should) - get to it.

I am sure this is the oldest of old news but given that I am not the kind of person to listen to many podcasts I only recently discovered the greatness that is RadioLab. Rarely do I have a chance to just sit and listen to this kind of thing but having heard a good bit of it now I think I\'m going to start making exceptions and give it a proper subscription. I\'ll consider it my own version of a Fireside Chat.

The new Mario Galaxy 2 trailer looks great. They took the best parts of the first iteration and added a few more incredible elements. Rarely do I get all that excited for a game but I got so many hours of gameplay out of the last one that I can\'t help but be stoked for this one.

New darkroom prints from Sara Cwynar. Enjoyable, to say the least.

I encounter a good bit of random imagery in my Internet travels and rarely know the best way to share them here.. still figuring out the best tactic but here\'s a small sampling of some recent goods:

• Okai to LAX - aside from being a rad painter, Jeremy Okai Davis nails some fantastic photos.
• Animal - hidden somewhere in this photostream is a bizarre, yet regal, lion. Sorta love it.
• Jugend Magazine, 1896 - undeniably great piece. A few more here but that one is tops.

These Japanese Sci-Fi Industrial Expo Posters are the perfect combination of styles - hints of Communist style propaganda, Orwellian dystopian sci-fi, traditional Japanese iconography and a good bit of just innovation and weirdness. I could not think of a better combo.

Christopher Poole, aka moot, is the guy behind 4chan - the uncredited heart and soul of so many Internet phenomena. It\'s odd to see him being interviewed as I would assume the last thing the founder of 4chan would want is to talk to any sort of media but he\'s got some very enlightened views on privacy and maybe keeping your online identity a bit more retracted than most of us seem to be moving towards.

Hopefully the full TED talk will find its way online through an official channel so it doesn\'t get ganked down immediately. I\'m curious to hear more...

The Aten Design Group is having a funeral - for Internet Explorer 6. Hot on the heels of this announcement, Google applications will no longer be supporting IE6 and users will be asked to upgrade. While such news may not really signal the death of the browser, it\'s a huge step in the right direction. I hope the IE6 Funeral that they\'re throwing in early March spreads throughout the country and more people celebrate the final laying down of a piece of software that has been a bane of web development for some time.

These things only exist in some sort of prototype phase but if the corporate entities of the world allow them to come to full fruition they could end up being pretty incredible:

• The Bloom Box - a power generator potent enough to provide enough energy for your entire home from a device roughly the size of a shoebox; completely disconnected from the grid. This is well beyond the realm of comprehension but I buy into it wholeheartedly. via Courtney.
• Lasers may enable fusion - while this may end up being as chased after as Cold Fusion it sounds like there is some serious headway being made on generating serious amounts of power with this laser technique.

This is probably outside the realm of what I typically post but after there\'s something appealing about this video that I can\'t quite put my finger on. Keegan probably said it best:

this video is beautiful / weird / beautiful / weird

He\'s right.. it\'s more like three or four videos than just the one but each one is intriguing in its own way. Go watch it.

There\'s no telling how the actual implementation will turn out but The Octopus Project are taking on a very ambitious undertaking for their SXSW performances - they\'re calling it the Hexadecagon. Eight speakers will be setup around a stage with eight images projected overhead for an In The Round style performance. Of all the bands out there that could pull this off, I believe these guys are capable of it. Consider it marked as To Attend on my SXSW roster of shows.

JB alerted me to this heads up that Chris Lilley isn\'t taking a break from his great work and is, in fact, working on a new project entitled \"Angry Boys.\" There\'s not much known about it beyond that but as long as he\'s got more coming down the pipe, I\'m happy to wait for it.

If you aren\'t familiar with We Can Be Heroes and Summer Heights High you should do yourself a favor and find a way to watch them in their entirety immediately.

I\'ve been enjoying browsing through the work of Brian Michael Gossett - a nice varied portfolio of goods well worth diving through each and every piece. The Break Your Tapedeck poster series caught my eye in particular but there is alot more worth seeing.

This weekend\'s wrap celebration for Whiskerino 2009 was every bit as surreal, ridiculous and entirely phenomenal that I had hoped it would be. Unfortunately I end up running around making sure the ship is running smoothly the entire time and have little time to really sit and have a lengthy conversation with anyone. That\'s the only downside.. everything else is great. Check out the photo booth pics to get a vague idea of the shenanigans that went down.
