On a
trusted recommendation, I've been spending time with the NY Times podcast
Rabbit Hole, an eight-part series that asks the simple question: "What is the internet doing to us?"
I'm not clear if this just
Season 1 of the series or not but it is largely focused on YouTube and the impact that the recommendation engine can have on radicalizing viewers. It's not a heavy-handed philosophical style presentation but it does use some wonderful real world examples of how this is taking place.
The episodes weave into one another seamlessly. So, what looks like 8 episodes actually feels like one long piece; which I really appreciated. There's not really a stopping point as you're pulled further into the show - a fitting editing choice for a show about immersion.
