Just about every episode of
Song Exploder is an enjoyable listen but I was particularly intrigued by this episode with
TOBACCO. Tom Fec runs through his process of writing music and how he creates the intentionally dense sounds found throughout his work. It's really fascinating to hear artists talk about recording equipment
as instruments. Recording straight to tape to create happenstance crackles and pops maybe isn't an entirely foreign concept but it's still great to hear an artist talk through the
why of doing such a thing.
