You know how trends are cyclical? You had grunge rock in the mid-90's and now you
hear its influence in great new music? Well, the
Club Kids scene from the early 90's seems to be coming back around... and I welcome it. While much of the movement is often associated with
KIDS or
Michael Alig's horrible decision making, it's also rich with imagination and insanely over-the-top costuming and character creation.
If you're willing to dip your toe in, browse through the offerings of
Sussi; a mesmerizing character if ever there was one. After that,
watch this VICE coverage on the re-emergence of the scene. The costuming is much more bonkers than it was in the 90's but it's an excellent step-up from the previous iteration.
