The Artist is a 2011 silent film by Michel Hazanavicius that fully embraces all the constraints of the long-gone era that it pays tribute to, all the way down to the 1.33:1 aspect ratio. Hopefully it doesn't have the same sluggish pacing as most films from that era but, even if it does, it will be a refreshing change from the norm. Read more about it here and here.
