Really extensive and eye-opening read from Adam Saltsman (maker of Canabalt and Hundreds among many others) on
The Making of Overland and, more specifically, bootstrapping yourself. His story is about the trials and tribulations of the game industry but it seems like the lessons and insights apply to just about anyone looking to invest in themselves. It's a lengthy read but well worth your time, especially if you're even mildly interested in what goes on behind the curtain of independent game development.
