The Pitch
Riding on the success of Mad Men, AMC recently launched a show called The Pitch that follows around different contemporary ad agencies as they pitch for competing jobs. While it's definitely interesting to see how McKinney goes head to head with WDCW or how The Ad Store manages to come up with their ideas I can't help but think almost every single high level creative on the show is an unbearable personality. I've done my fair share of work with ad agencies but it kind of blows my mind that the egomaniacal, brutish persona that I've encountered at a handful of places actually persists across the board. How is this possible?! Am I incorrect in this thinking or is this just the personality that is required to be a pitch man for a big corporation?
