Basically, in an attempt to sidestep genetic deficiencies being passed on from the mother to child, scientists have discovered a way to pass in healthy mitochondria info from a third party. Many argue that this is messing with natural selection, throwing off the balance of basic gene inheritance, a slap in the face to the adoption world or a slippery slippery slope into "a eugenic designer baby market." Whatever it is, it's definitely interesting. Science!
