We Own This Town: Beth Cameron Interview
posted June 18, 2018 #
When I relaunched We Own This Town, one of my primary goals was to have the Music podcast feature more than just a mixtape of new songs from around the Nashville area. So, with that in mind, I'm extremely pleased to announce the 110th episode is a long-form interview with Beth Cameron, best known for her work as Forget Cassettes and soon to be known for her work in Black Bra.
We cover the basics - how she got into music, her history of bands and what's coming soon for her - but we also steer the conversation to some more meaty subject matter; namely the hardships of being a female in the music industry.
The podcast's primary intent will always be to shine a light on unheard music around the area but I'm proud that we were able to have a conversation about some bigger social issues and how an entire community has to band together to make the improvements necessary to accomplish them. The #MeToo movement is a phenomenal way for the abused to share their story but we have to go beyond that to make things better. My thanks to Beth for having the discussion.
