yk 023: Jasmin Kaset. Quiet Machine Release

Today is the official launch of Jasmin Kaset's sophomore album, Quiet Machine. I'm incredibly proud to be a part of this release. Last night as I was sprucing up the yk records site I tried to properly wrap my brain around what it is that I love so much about this record.

After contemplating it for awhile it hit me that all the meticulous instrumentation and engaging storytelling would be completely useless if Jasmin's voice didn't have that certain something to it. For me, there's a weighted melancholy to her delivery that just tugs at my heartstrings in an inexplicable way. There's a power to it that I wish I could put my finger on but every time I listen to the record (and I've listened to it a lot) it hits me with the same potency. My hope is that you sit with it and let it hit you in the same way.
