Even if you don't consider yourself a fan of the
Laugh Out Loud Cats comic strip you have to love the style of the
two masks created for this Halloween season. There's really only way to sum up my feelings -
want.

I finally got my act together and posted this years Halloween mix,
Et Tu, Morte?. I think it's a solid combination of creepy ambient songs, dark rock and a few completely jarring tracks. This is a much darker take on the mix than years past but it's still an enjoyable listen.
And speaking of years past - it's only right that I put up the previous mixes,
Songs for Spooks and
Pure Terror, to fulfill any and all your Halloween mix needs.
Please download the mix(es) and let me know what you think!

While I get my ish together on the latest Halloween mix it should be noted that
Team Treehouse has posted a
mix of their own terrifying flavors.. aptly named
An Experiment In Terror: Part Two.

It's almost Halloween time and, if the past
two years are to be considered tradition, I should have my Halloween mix together sometime soon. That being said, the following two songs will not be on the forthcoming mix but are absolutely
essential for any gathering that occurs during the month of October. Please download and play obsessively. I already am.

I don't think I need to explain exactly what it is that makes
Dog Star Wars Costumes the best thing about this Halloween. There are also some serious gems on
this page as well. Thanks
Chad.

So I finally got my act together and have put together a
new mix. Immediately after finishing this one I started in on multiple new ones, so I think it's safe to say that having a place to call Home is beneficial to my productiveness.
So please, download the
new mix and let me know what you think. I think I was able to include a little more electronic music than I usually do and hope you enjoy that aspect as much as I do. I'll probably be posting more about some of the individual artists as I think many of them are worthy of a bit more ear time.
The Halloween mix is up next.. get in your suggestions now if you have any.

Happy Halloween! If the first video doesn't creep you out beyond belief then seeing your beloved animatronic Chuck E. Cheese characters dismantled and defaced to their barebones electronic skeletons surely will.
If anyone runs across any amazing costume images, drop a comment.. I'm always curious.

The language may be NSFW but the commercial is hilarious and all too appropriate for Halloween.
Update: The above video apparently is copyright to CollegeHumor.com.. and since their magic embed code doesn't seem to work, you'll just have to view the hilarity
here. Totally worth it.. trust me.

Your Halloween party this year is going to kick ass - at least in terms of music. You've got my
two mixes, the
Experiment in Terror AND now
Relative Theory have released their latest installment of the
Relative Love Podcast, which just so happens to be incredibly creepy and Halloween based. The Aerogramme cover of "Thriller" makes the whole thing worth nabbing but you since you're already subscribed to the podcast (right?) you already knew about it.

I posted my
October mix for those of you that are interested. It's somewhat Halloween themed again but I will admit that it doesn't hold a candle to
last years mix - mostly because I'd already used "Jellybones" and "Do They Know It's Hallowe'en?" - those two tracks will make any mix.
Regardless, I think it's an entertaining listen and I'd like to know what you think. So let me know.

Nothing makes me wish I had a dog more than seeing
pet costumes. I mean, the chance to embarrass my sidekick by dressing it up as a box of fries is just too good to miss out on.
Baby Octopus - clip from a Japanese TV show that, once again, proves that the Japanese are capable of weirdness that Americans couldn't even begin to comprehend.

Hale Links: Volume 28
$11 Super Wide Angle Digital Camera - or rather an $11 DIY method of making your small digital camera appear to have a ridiculous wide angle lens. Really ingenius idea.
Printing Press Folding Chair - it's not exactly a "dynamic" solution but it gets the job done and it gets it done right! Maybe you could switch out chairs for different jobs. Again, another clever DIY solution.
The Simpsons and Science - Did you know that 1782
12 + 1841
12 = 1922
12 is actually a proposed solution to
Fermat's Last Theorem? Did you also know it's a quick background joke on a Simpsons Halloween episode, written by David X. Cohen? Apparently loads of Simpsons writers are actual math and science nerds and insert all sorts of subtle jokes here and there. This may explain why some of the actual plots over recent years have been sub-par but it's fairly fascinating to know that the writers of such a (mostly) entertaining show are throwing in so many well thought out asides. The Apu reference to pi is probably my favorite.
Armchair Upholstery Print - the examples given for this new service are pretty much awful but the possibilties for greatness exist.
Power Transformer Houses - why put a big ugly power transformer in a neighborhood when you can put a big ugly power transformer in a neighborhood disguised as a local house!? I'd like to see one of these coupled with a
Fraud Frond just for the biggest impact.

Apparently there is a DVD coming out of
Amazon.com: The Short Films of David Lynch - something that I can't imagine sitting down and actually watching in a single sitting. I can, however, imagine buying it and projecting it on a huge screen during Halloween season to weird the crap out of both parents and children alike. Thanks
Relative Theory for the heads up!

If you are a regular
Hedonistica visitor then this is nothing new but
Halloween punch made me laugh aloud. I believe they call that an "lol." It's true.

Since Halloween falls on a Monday this year everyone is having their celebrations over the weekend. Somehow this has worked out to mean that almost every day for the next week contains an event of some sort worth mentioning.
Stars play tonight with some band called Death Cab for Cutie.. I don't plan on staying for ole Death Cab but I'm pretty excited about seeing Stars.
Parties on Saturday thrown by various groups of people. I will probably end up just attending one but it's nice to have options.
Shout Out Louds play on Monday at Exit/In. I missed them last time and look forward to finally catching them.
Dredg plays on Tuesday.. unfortunately it's at RCKTWN with a few other bands I don't have much interest in, but maybe I'll check it out anyway.
Whiskerino 2005 also starts on Tuesday (Nov. 1) so assuming I get all my code together this weekend, prepare your razors.

I think today should be devoted to finding the ultimate Halloween costume (past or present). I know there will be some gems this year but given the popularity of Flickr and just the internet in general, I suspect we could find some fairly mindblowing costumes. For instance, check out this
Yeti costume. Awkward? Yes. So over the top that it's mindblowingly good? Absolutely. Or what about transforming yourself into a
AT-AT Walker from Star Wars. Never seen that before but I'm glad I have now. What else has everyone else unearthed?

I posted my
Halloween Mix this morning. Get it while the gettin's good because I'll be taking it down Nov 1st. Hopefully it can function as a nice additional disc to add to your rotation during the numerous Halloween parties you will be attending this weekend.
