As I head up to Brooklyn for a week of meetings, I thought I'd try something a little different on the site. Every morning, I post 2-3 things to the site with a mini-writeup and some images (or, at least, I try to do that). I find it to be a nice way to start the day but it can also be stressful to try and keep up with my own self-imposed schedule.

So, instead of trying to do that to myself while I'm away in another city, I've reworked the site ever so slightly to pull the sidebar items into the main feed. If you're viewing the site on mobile, nothing looks any different. If you're viewing it on Desktop or Tablet, you're likely seeing some odd spacing and a bit of chaos with a bunch of posts all thrown together. THAT'S what I want to try - just having everything all in one feed.

So, if I post a quick little link or favorite a tweet, it shows up here in the main feed for all browser sizes. There's plenty of visual work to be done to make it a more pleasant browsing experience but at least this will tell me (and you) if this is a good way to go or not for the site.

That's 3 paragraphs of behind-the-curtain thinking and likely 100% unnecessary. TLDR: I'm going to have less time to post for the next week so I'm making it easier for myself to post for the next week.

We Own This Town: Volume 109

posted June 4, 2018 #

Another We Own This Town Music podcast to start your week off. It's ~35min of Nashville area music that runs a wide gamut of styles. I mean, that's every episode of the show so 109 episodes in, I hope you get it by now. I'm still not entirely comfortable on mic by myself alone in a room but I have a few moments of amusement on this one.
Of course, subscribe to this thing and leave a review. I don't get much feedback on the show and would like to know if I'm doing a horrible job.

Anyway, thanks for listening. Continue Reading...

Friday Videos - June 1st, 2018

posted June 1, 2018 #

Last week the new Sleep Good album, Bohemian Grove, was released and this week the new Quichenight album, Cooler Heads, is coming in hot and heavy. Lots more on the way!

Short listing this week because 1) it was a short week and 2) I'm pretty low on browsing time lately. Regardless, Enjoy some videos:
  • Klaus Nomi - Nomi Song - I've been revisiting some Klaus Nomi works and am still stunned by this French TV performance. Follow this up with The Cold Song.
  • Jay-Z - 4:44 - if you know this video, you'll enjoy this.
  • Woman Tonight - just gonna sneak this Quichenight video right in here for you to enjoy. Read more about it if you feel so inclined.
  • Annual Cheese Rolling Contest - in which a bunch of human beings voluntarily throw themselves down a steep hill and compete to see who can demolish their bodies the most on the way down. A fine tradition.
Enjoy this little sneezer too. Thanks.

Quichenight - Woman Tonight

posted May 31, 2018 #

I mentioned yesterday that Quichenight will be having a listening party tonight - May 31st - here in Nashville, TN at The Bowery Vault but there's even more good news on the Quichenight front. News that anyone can enjoy, even those outside Nashville.

The video for "Woman Tonight" just premiered and it's a ridiculous romp of greenscreen absurdity, special effects and stock footage integrations. Helen Gilley directed and edited this whole thing and did a wonderful job. It's hilarious in all the right ways.
