Artists
Nate Larson and
Marni Shindelman collaborated on the project
Geolocation in which they combed through Twitter streams looking for intriguing musings and then paired them with photographs of their actual geographic locations.
What is most striking about the project is the
lack of life captured in them. Empty rooms, foggy rooftops and desolate motels really accentuate the sadness in many of the tweets.

I really love the design aesthetic of
All Bad Days, a small business from Portland, Oregon "fueled by sadness, self deprecation, and lots of late night delivery pizza." I'm tempted to say there's a
political message running throughout but that's selling it short, as there's clearly a message of equality and anger against injustices; all wrapped in amusingly baroque text and top notch illustrations. Maybe I'm overthinking it but I love how the
entire catalog looks and hope the duo running this thing realize what a great thing they've created.

There is no digital representation of the paintings of
Gloria Petyarre that can do them justice. The Australian Aboriginal artist creates enormous canvas pieces depicting
Bush Medicine Dreaming. A bit more on that:
Bush medicine leaves derive from a particular native shrub which grows abundantly in the desert regions of Utopia, north-east of Alice Springs. During the life of the plant, the leaves change colour and exhibit different medicinal properties. The artists who paint this story represent the leaves as they float to the ground, and they employ a range of brush strokes and colours to represent the leaves at different times of the year.
Peruse the
Leaves collection and you will see intricate, massive, wavelike patterns. It's hard to imagine the process of actually creating these pieces and an immersive experience to see them in person at the scale they were intended.

The Internet Archive has undertaken a new endeavor,
The Great 78 Project, in which they aim to digitize as many 78rpm records as they are able to. The first batch of results looks to be
nearly 26,000 records courtesy
George Blood, L.P. digitization. That's an overwhelming amount of music to parse through and I can only hope someone starts compiling playlists to help grapple with the largess of it all.
In the meantime, just cruise through the listings and click whatever catches your eye.
Chop Suey Mambo,
Pickin' the Chicken,
I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas and
Praise the Lord and Pass the Ammunition seem like a good a place to start as any. Or you could go a bit more classic with the likes of
Baby, It's Cold Outside,
Jeepers Creepers,
House of the Rising Sun or
Over the Rainbow.
The crackle and static of the recordings may be a bit distracting at first but I find it somewhat charming.
