Women of the world, take over, cause if you don't the world will come to an end, and it won't take long.

Any reason to still say "social media"? Why not just "media" in 2016?

Okay, bear with me here. This James Bridle article,
At Play on the Field of Ghosts, is a massive tome of a read largely focused on forthcoming technology and sports. At least, that's the layman's summary of it. Really, the article is about how technology is rapidly progressing in its ability to capture our surroundings - i.e. realtime 3D scans turned into impossible camera movements or holograms projected realistically on a stadium size level.
Despite not feeling much interest in sports myself, it's important to remember that it is a massively funded economy in and of itself; so the tech being researched and developed is extremely well backed, with lots of interested parties. Probably moreso than cancer research or nano technology. All that is to say, it's impressive and will have a bigger impact on all of our lives; it just happens to start with sports.
Read it, think on it, discuss it with your friends. The future is gonna be weird.
