Last month I told you about the forthcoming yk records release from POLY and shared the song Fishin' with you.

I was also adamant that the band was adorable but I don't think anything better exemplifies than actually seeing them play. So, please, take a moment to watch Poly play Fishin'. They used this video to apply for the NPR Tiny Desk Concert and, despite not making it, captured their delightfulness perfectly.

I've only just begun to familiarize myself with the works of Polish designer Lex Drewinski but his simple, elegant approach is really appealing. Not only is he clever but he's also capable of sending a message - all with a highly reduced color palette and just the right amount of lines, no more.

Who The F*@% Is Frank Zappa?

Alex Winter is best known for playing Bill S. Preston (Esquire) but he's quickly establishing himself as a documentary director worth paying plenty of attention to. His two previous films - Downloaded (The Napster Story) and Deep Weeb (The Silk Road Story) - are well researched and captivating pieces.

Now he's tackling Frank Zappa and has turned to Kickstarter to fund it. The Who the F*@% Is Frank Zappa? campaign is live and racing toward it's $500,000 goal. The best part? It's officially sanctioned by the Zappa estate and they've given him unprecedented access to the Zappa archives, as documented here.

I actually know very little about Frank Zappa so I'm quite curious to learn the whole story.

Scott Lenhardt

The portfolio of Scott Lenhardt has a lot of impressive aspects to it - impressively realistic Pet Portraits, creative Commercial Art and even some Murals. The it's the Fine Art portion really calls to me but oddly makes almost no mention of one of Lenhardt's most enjoyable undertakings - Twenty Four Hour Woman.

It's a daily calendar of illustrations depicting a woman in some random scenario. And I mean that at it's most literal - it could simply be a woman with a dog or it could be a woman washing Gizmo while a Gremlin looks on with a hair dryer or an elf woman playing a double flute in the woods. They're nude but it's not sexualized - it's just a way to make the characters more awkward or other worldly or more hilarious. Defnitely worth a follow.

Remember when Tower Defense debuted the video for History? Well, they're now releasing the title track off their Stay Inside EP and you can listen to it below.
You can also hear it on Bandcamp and even read along with the lyrics if you'd like. And while you're there, go ahead and order the limited edition 10" green vinyl that said song sounds best on. You know you need it.

Dexter

It's not out of Beta yet but Dexter appears to be a bit of a revival of Yahoo! Pipes. Not literally of course but the similarities are pretty undeniable. That's not a harsh review as someone needs to step up in the world of creating visually automated tasks and these guys seem to be right on track. Connect Point A to Point B and get Result C - actual drag and drag connectivity between services through Dexter.

Zapier and IFTTT do similar things but the interface here is the real differentiator. It feels nerdy and gamelike but also powerful and useful - without being too intimidating.

Don't Lift Up, Don't Look Down

You may recall the name Sophie Kipner from her hosting appearances on every episode of Everything. Beyond being able to lip sync effectively, she's an artist in her own right and recently opened a solo show of her work. Each piece starts with a blind line drawing - one line from start to finish without lifting up and without looking at your progress. Kipner has plenty of examples of this technique on her Instagram and I think the results are fascinating.
