RoadTrippers.com seems to be an excellently designed site to house your pinned destinations for a proper road trip. Great example is this collection of trips from Geek Town. From Abandoned Theme Parks to Offbeat Museums to Plenty More... definitely worth cruising around.

I spent an unhealthy amount of time reading through this Reddit thread on Production Glitches and Errors in Popular Music - like the major obscenity at 55seconds in Louie, Louie or the tempo slowdown during What's The Frequency, Kenneth?. The list is long and completely fascinating from top to bottom. It event spawned its own subreddit if you enjoy it as much as I did.

One of the great things about working in an office is seeing all the different workflows that everyone uses. Chris just introduced me to Spectacle - an app that allows for simple window resize and movement through keystrokes. It sounds nerdy (and it is nerdy) but it's a great way to keep your screens organized without all that troublesome clicking and dragging! Automated efficiency!!

Chad points out you can take it to the next level beyond that with Vimium and never need that pesky mouse again.

Enjoy your weekly distraction playlist! I feel like it's better this week than it has been in the past few.. so really savor it.

• We Are Brothers - this is the result of two ridiculous brothers wishing their middle sibling off proper fashion - by begging and pleading for him to not "leave them" via original 80's music video. It's actually incredibly well done in every respect.
• 90s Week on Sundance - part of a trio of promotional animations from the Sundance channel. Incredible work and amazing references throughout.
• 80s Week on Sundance - part two of the trilogy - more greatness throughout. Really stunned by how great these are.
• 70s Week on Sundance - part three and probably my favorite. They all have similar styles but this one hits just right.
• Eagleheart Teaser - even if you have zero interest in the show, this teaser contains a pizza briefcase so, you're welcome.
• Every Young Man's Battle: The Movie - the battle against pornography is everywhere. Stick with it until at least the 1:00 mark when our protaganist is tempted by the uncouth and derelict Kevin!
• Infomercials vs The Smiths - this may very well be the greatest mashup of audio and video that has existed on the Internet.
• GettyDubs - what happens when you add audio to stock videos? Awfulness. The toothbrushing is probably my favorite.
• Ween - "The Mollusk" fan vid - how I have never seen this lego animation before is beyond me. It's as close to a literal telling of the Ween song as there could be but it's completely fascinating. Go for the flute, stay for the rotating orchestra at 1:20 - made my week.

Admittedly, I know nothing about Jessica Roy but reading her farewell post from BetaBeat definitely instilled a sense of admiration for her. I'm sure the post rubbed a lot of people the wrong way but sometimes you just gotta tell it like it is! It's scathing but it's a great read.

The other day I stumbled into this recently unearthed short film from Jim Henson called Drums West. It's a stop motion animation explosion and it led me down a path to this article containing the surreal films of Jim Henson. I'd seen this crazy Bufferin ad before but the Paperwork Explosion and Ripples pieces are new to me. They are bizarre and far more art school than what you associate with Jim Henson but the man had to start somewhere! When you're done with that, revisit his Wilkins Coffee Commercials - and see the initial seeds of the Muppets at work.

Jeremy Hunt Schoenherr is a man of many talents. I was introduced to him as a developer, and a damn good one at that. However, turns out he's got a serious eye for photography as well. I've been loving the offerings on his blog, his photostream and his instagram. I'd stick with the blog for the more artsy fair but highly recommend them all. So much goodness.

The Empire Drive-In is , at the root of it, a pop-up drive-in movie theater with wrecked cars all around for seating. Further digging reveals that the junked cars aren't just aesthetic, they serve a thoughtful purpose:

The project invites audiences to participate in a series of questions about car culture, planned obsolescence, and the distinction between public and private space.

Sounds a bit heady but if you read about their process, it's quite sensible. Particularly the part about using more contemporary junked cars to take aim at our disposable culture that has developed.

All that and you get to see a movie. I'm going to be on the lookout for events. via Adam.

Every image in this Lights in Chicago set from Satoki Nagata is gorgeous. There's plenty more compelling imagery throughout the portfolio but I'm a huge fan of long exposures, light play and silhouetted subjects. It's got it all.

Finally, the day is drawing near that we can both watch and interact with our pets from afar! PetCube proposes to mass produce a slick box with a camera, a microphone, a speaker and a laser pointer - controlled via a mobile app. It's a double-edged sword of being more present with your pets while away and also a solid excuse to feel like you're actually interacting with your pets without actually interacting with them. All that being said, it seems like a well designed piece of work and I'd like to see one in action.
