Listen, I realize Skrillex can be a polarizing subject but this mini site - Skrillex Quest is undeniably awesome. Yea, that's right, Awesome. It's a legitimate homage to videogames (Legend of Zelda and early first-person shooters) and actually fun to play. I couldn't believe the amount of time I spent exploring and actually advancing towards an end goal. You may end up muting your speakers but you'll keep playing, I promise.

I don't read the Bloomberg View but now that I'm seeing this Tumblog of Bloomberg View Art I may have to start. Such an amazing diversity of styles covering a bunch of great topics. Who knew an illustration about the Securities and Exchange Commission could be so fun? Other topics include Nuclear War, Morality vs Political Constraints and Dirty Bank Secrets.. all great pieces of work.

James George and Jonathan Minard are trying to finish their documentary Clouds - the first interactive film presented within their 3D cinema effect (RGBD). The Kickstarter campaign is looking to raise funds to help create this sort of experience:

The CLOUDS experience is generated from a database of richly tagged interviews. For you, the viewer, the story begins with your curiosity. You input a question or search term as the starting point, setting the initial trajectory. Just as an everyday conversation will often flow through series of digressions, each subject you encounter offers branching paths to unexplored regions of the video collection. A unique narrative experience is generated just for you. You can sit back and watch the story conversation unfold, or let your interaction with the system guide you toward surprising outcomes.

I'm not sure if that sounds enjoyable or laboring. Regardless, it definitely sounds unique and I rather love the look of the 3D film (see also: Aaronetrope).

I don't think there is anyone out there that would argue that Jack Kirby was a master of his craft. So, it's no surprise that this collection of page spreads is ridiculously impressive. Even if you don't consider yourself a comic fan at all there's so much inspiration to be had in other arenas - sci fi realms, character design, color palette choices, doing more with less (printing techniques were limited in his time). There's even some type inspiration if you keep your eyes open.

Carve some time out in the near future to watch these videos from XOXO - the Portland conference that went down this past September that featured all kinds of great talks. I highly recommend Dan Harmon of Community, Jamie Wilkinson of VHX, James and Lisanne of Indie Game: The Movie and Chris Poole of 4chan but, no kidding around, all the talks were good. R. Stevens was hilarious, Dan Provost & Tom Gerhardt were super insightful, Chad Dickerson was fascinating and the list goes on and on.

It's amazing that XOXO has released all these videos so don't squander it! At the very least watch the recap. Enjoy!

You're familiar with the weirdness that is Horse ebooks, right? If you don't know the story, go read up and familiarize yourself with the amusing non-sequitors the account emits. Once you're comfortable with that, marvel at the greatness that is Horse E-Posters; a beautifully designed collection of images from Tim Lampe visualizing those very same tweets. I'd be surprised at anyone not loving I Am A Full Time Internet but if that doesn't do it for ya, then check out this or this or all of them. So good.

With WRVU going online exclusively and nixing all their community DJ's, Out The Other felt a bit out in the cold. It's been some time since I've seen regular blog posts from Miss Timmons and I, sadly, accepted the fact that the blog may be gone. Fortunately, I stumbled back upon it yesterday and see that I've been missing out on some great new content - maybe you have been as well?

tl:dr verison: Out The Other appears to be blogging again. Rebookmark it.

If there is a world of famed infographic designers, I hope Christian Tate is near the top of the list. This plot lines infographic, dubbed Delayed Grafitication, depicts various overlapping themes from a load of books. Even at its busiest, you understand what's going on. Zoomable version here.

I can't even begin to explain GeoGoo and any attempts to do so would likely sound insane. At the heart of it, it's an artistic experience using Google Maps as the presentation. There's a manic energy to the whole thing that seemingly emulates twitching between locations while keeping a consistent mathematic expression being drawn with icons. Like I said, explaining it sounds insane.

It is great to see that artist Steven Harrington got a total site overhaul and has officially relaunched with goodness like this You & I Sculpture. Dive into his Inside Out show and then get into the archives. I can't even begin to express how much I love his work wholeheartedly.

This Razrs book looks innocent enough but it's not for the faint of heart. Supposedly, the content is "a collection of photographs and text messages found on 28 'as-is' Motorola V3 Razr cell phones bought from eBay." I choose to believe author Kyle MF Williams and just enjoy the weird, sometimes hard-to-look-at, ride.
