Compiling a mix of the "best" released music from a certain year is never an easy task. It is, obviously, completely subjective both in terms of overall viewpoint and also fluctuating from a personal viewpoint. The goal here was to pick a slew of songs that represented the songs that I found myself listening to the most. Not all of the music was released in 2007 (though the majority of it is) but every single track is something I became familiar with during the 365 days of 2007.
Tracks from albums coming out in 2008 were not included (Vampire Weekend, Big Sleep, etc) because they will, more than likely, make it to the Best of 2008 list.
This mix is far longer than previous mixes but is split up into two discs once you download it. Disc 1 is more of the upbeat "rock" style stuff and Disc 2 is comprised of the slower, sometimes far sadder, stuff (the split happens on Kama Aina track).
It goes without saying that there was probably a ton of music that I never heard and completely overlooked for this list - or music that I did hear and managed to forget about. Regardless, this is still a pretty comprehensive arrangement of my favorites.
